Default Problem loading new Blu-ray movies

I have a Sony BCP S-301 player. This week I tried to play the movies Batman
begins and Nyms island, but the player keep on trying to load the movies unsucessfully. I tried older movies and they loaded perfectly. I went to Sears and a salesman employee told me that I need to download an update for the player. The problem is, assuming that is correct, where can I find the file needed and what is the procedurefor installing it in the player? Have anyone else enconter this problem, any help will be mostly aprecciated, thanks, Jose E.

Not trying to burst your blu-ray bubble but the BDP-S301 is one of the worst players currently on the market. If you can return it I strongly recommend you do.

That being said, your manual should give you instructions about updating. The most common way is by downloading the firmware update and burning the image to a CD. Then just pop the CD into the unit and it should update the firmware.

Good luck mate

Welcome to bluray.com, if you want to read about the Sony S300/301 check this thread out https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=10092 it should help you with a lot of questions that you have. If you want the link where to download the latest firmware here you go, http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu...pl?mdl=BDPS301 Also you can order the disc directly from Sony

If you do not have a CD burner in your computer, Sony will provide a free disc with the firmware update. Click here to order the firmware update.
NOTE: If you have questions or require assistance, please contact our customer call center at 866-909-7669.
Finally on this page you will find all the instructions you need if you have a Windows XP based machine http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu...d=3591&os_id=7 Good luck man with your new player. I would recommend the Sony-S350 at this point since it is a much faster player and it is a bonus view player (profile 1.1) and is future upgradeable to (profile 2.0 with a external flash drive).

Because Blu-ray is such a new technology, updating your player's firmware is crucial to play the latest movies.

As others have said, you really just need a firmware update: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu...pl?mdl=BDPS300

and all will be well. You won't be able to use the BonusView features on Batman Begins, etc, but your playback issues should be taken care of.

Thanks to all, after all I decided to request the firmware through Sony because my CD burner only produced data CD's that couldn't be run on the 301.

Default Problems loading blu-ray movies

All you you really needed to do to download the latest update was go to http://www.sony.com and download the latest firmware and follow the instructions that are given. If the player is more then a year old then you most likely will not be able to return it but you will also not be able to get any technical help from Sony If this was to be a hardware problem.
