Default Sanyo CRT HDTV/Monitor

Found this thread via google..
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?p=51315

I've been looking at the Sanyo HT30746 at Wal-Mart. I've been intrested in using it as a monitor for computer (shooting movies and or yah know displaying web pages) and I was wondering if it had that capability via the HDMI cable?

According to the thread it says
"In reality resolution most likely is around 1300 X 1080 interlace"

What would be it's functioning 16:9 resolution as a monitor? (assuming it can be one)

It's a 16:9 wide display. What HDTV1080P means with 1080i x 1300 is that the vertical resolution, as it is 1080 lines of interlaced scanning, so it's not gonna be a full 1080 because of the interlace, but less. A commonly cited number is a "Kell factor of 0.7" which would give you about 768p but your milage might vary (see this thread and a few others for a little about that)
Then on the horizontal resolution side the CRT tube might not be able to resolve 1920 pixels so could be approximately the equivalent of 1600, 1440, 1280, etc (on an analog tube resolution changes contrast as the detail gets finer so it's like a smooth descending slope)

So what HDTV1080P was trying to say the image might be similar to a 720p x 1280 or 768p x 1366 16:9 fixed pixel display, but with the advantages of CRT tubes, (high on/of contrast, etc)

(I'll also add that another "advantage" of the interlaced CRT is that native 1080i 60 Hz HDTV shows and sports shot 'live" in 60i will tend to look "live" as things shot on regular videotape tend to look on standard ntsc 480i 60hz CRTs)
