No- Quite the contrary. There have been experiments in 200GB 6-layer discs. If im not mistaken, there are working prototypes also, but they are difficult to mass produce and would not be compatible with currently released players.

If current players are capable of reading anything that uses the 25GB/layer spec, then we could see ourselves with up to 150 GB (6 layers) on a single disc.
I dunno but I hope that it's a possible. On the other hand, the 200GB @ 6-layers WON'T WORK because it uses 33.3GB/layer which would require a mandate in the Blu-ray specifications before it could even be made possible. It's just like how HD-DUD announced 17 GB/layer during CES 2007 expo but can't come out with anything until year 2008 ![]() Therefore, they're stuck with 15GB/layer until a change in spec occurs. ![]() ![]() |
