My mistake, it's only been about 20 years since I've used it.

Yes it is. I got into a disagreement with someone just a few weeks about about this code. He though it was up, up, down, down, left, right, B, A, B, A, Start. Which isn't even close! Haha

The code is UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A... then SELECT, START if you want 2 players, or just START for one player

But Contra was my first game beaten as well... from what I remember

Adventure had an end... the first D&D type game on a console. That may have been my first.
