Default Why does NET-FLIX suck with new releases!?!

I signed up for netflix about two weeks ago, because I heard blockbuster was going out of business. Also, with netflix im saving atleast $60 a month instead of going to blockbuster. So I realized...netflix SUCKS when it comes to shipping new releases. In your Queue, it says 'Very long wait' whenever you add a new release movie to your list.

I have been waiting 2 weeks for a new release that I can easily go and rent at blockbuster. I dont know...I may be canceling netflix because this really irritates me

I don't suppose that you stopped to think that everybody and their brother want the same new release that you do???

Not if its Blu-Rays. Apparently our extra $1 a month isn't producing more.

They announced that they will be charging customers extra for the ability to rent Blu-Rays. Isn't it 1 dollar or is it more? Either way, it hasn't shown results.

The highest demand for these new movies is when they first come out. So Netflix could buy a massive amount to meet everyone's initial wants for a new movie - and then they'd be left with thousands of copies of a new release that never get rented out. If they did that then your monthly fee would be greatly increased.

1. "You heard" Blockbuster was going out of online business? Link? Info?
2. I currently use BB Online. It's great for me because I have multiple stores very close to me. I am on the 2nd-highest plan ($19.99/mo). How in the hell can this be $60 a month cheaper is pretty beyond me.

Color me confused.

His local BB is probably going out of business, not the online department.

No...all blockbusters are going out of business. I have two blockbusters within 5 minutes of my house. I live on Long Island BTW

I've been using Netflix for a couple of years now and even when I started renting Blu-Rays I got them the day of release or the day after because I had them in my queue before their release date. If you put them in your queue the same day or the day after they are released you'll be waiting awhile. The only time I miss out is when it's my own fault for not getting one back in time for the release date of the next weeks movies.

If you are upset because they aren't waiting there for you right after their release date and you needed to wait for it to be returned, then that is NO different then any local blockbuster.

Yep thats right! You snooze you lose. I usually get my new releases shipped on Mondays because my queue is full ahead of time. Its called customer competition. If BB online doesn't ship the movies I want, I just drive a mile to my local BB on Tuesday morning and rent there.

Yes, but Blockbuster manages to meet that demand, and that is the main comp for Netflix.

Screw that! I'd rather stick with Blockbuster. I have about three Blockbusters around me so I'm happy. Plus, I get free blu-ray rentals at Hollywood Video; one at a time though. If its free you can't complain.

Netflix is sending me an August 19th new release today.

I was taught a little trick by another member on this site. Make sure you return your movies on Friday or Saturday so Netflix receives them on Monday and move the new Tuesday releases to the top of your queue. (They are permitted to mail new releases on Monday.) Remove any movies that are available "NOW". This has worked for me on the last several new release dates.
