Default Does my TV just suck?

I have a 50" Toshiba 50HM66. It's supposedly only a 720p tv but accepts 1080p signals. I just got my bdp-s300 blu-ray player yesterday and only noticed a subtle difference (althought there is definently a differece) in picture quality. Do i just need to get a new TV? If so what would be some good suggestions (looking to spend around 1500-2000). I'm definently going to be doing some searching aroudn but would like to hear what other people have to say.

If you have to ask, then probably yes. Sony and Samsung are two of the top brands in that price range. Samsung is pretty equal in quality in Sony, just that the Samsung TV's are usually less expensive. Samsung's perform nice and the look amazing too. But both are great, if you can get a great deal on a Sony go for it.

I f#ck'in hate Toshiba's...had a few and never did anything good for me. I would recommend either a LCD or Plasma. If you get either I would buy Pioneer, Samsung, or Pioneer. Sony's are OK too but I feel they are a bit overpriced for what you get. You are just paying for a name.

just b/c it accepts the signal doesn't mean that it is displaying in 1080p. it sounds like you're only getting 720p. i'm partial to samsung for the price.

Toshiba... yes it does.

JK.
If it is that large and only outputs 720 (input doesn't matter), then you should upgrade when you can afford it.

through HDMI, it was Pearl Harbor that i watched.

I had spiderman 3 in the bd player and spiderman 1 in the xbox and was able to flip back and forth to look at the difference and there was definently a difference, but not like what i've seen at retail stores that have the high-end TV's all displaying blu-ray. The Tv was a good deal and that's why i got it. I never expeceted to get a blu-ray player when i got the tv.

The governement gave me money and told me to spend it, so that's why i got my blu-ray player

Yup, my neighbor just got it from Amazon and he's pretty happy about the purchase. I'm considering this TV for my bedroom.

I probably buy. Only thing I'm afraid of is getting a defective tv and having to send it back instead of having the local store come pick it up. Hmmmm, lets look up Amazon return policy

amazon return policy for TV's is pretty nice. White glove service if you order the TV. They will open it for you and you can inspect it when it arrives, for any damage. Then if you find no damage, you have 30 days to return it... depending on the defect.

If there is damage, then you can refuse the package on the spot and get a full refund or replacement

I just ordered my TH-50PZ85U from amazon. It arrives May 1 !!!! I'm going to be using it solely for my bedroom... I'll drop the money for a nice TV/projector when I have a house to put it all in

At $1997 with no tax and free shipping, it is a decision you would not regret.

The deep blacks of plasma along with the ultra-fast response and highly accurate colours and motion resolution will have you enjoying the full benefits of Blu-ray.

An excellent recommendation.
