I know there's size charts out there, but I'd like to get insight from you guys regarding purchasing a new HD TV. My bedroom is about 12ft to 13ft. What size would you reccomend for best viewing? Would a 40" be too big?

Yeah I'm thinking 40 to 42! 46 may be too big... there's no way I could do 58" like someone suggested lol

Also second question... I'm sorry I'm a novice.. I know 120hz is basically a motion enhancer, but is it really worth all that extra money? i do watch a lot of action/super hero/horror movies so some of the scenes ill be watching may have a lot of motion, but I'm still not really keen on spending all that extra money

Also, I was looking at Circuit City... I'm leaning towards Sony, but I don't see any 42" models... only 40 and 46. I had a 32 samsung once for a few days but I returned it for the Sony, which I thought looked better plus I had probs with the Samsung and their customer service was horrid. That was only one experience I have to go off though. I don't really know much about the other brands and what's good and what isn't... except I will not be purchasing a Vizio or Olevia or Westinghouse lol. |

Gah, what is with all the incorrect information about 120hz?!
120hz is the refresh rate. Since 24 (as in 24p movies) divides evenly into it, it's supposed to reduce 3:2 pulldown judder. It is also supposed to be good for fast-moving sports. 120hz sets also come with some type of motion enhancer- different brands call it different things. Motionflow is the most common. This is what people refer to as "super smooth" or "fake" looking. This is a setting that can be turned off. 120hz for LCD's = good. Motionflow = up to the owner. Most folks on this board don't like it, some love it. |

I'm not aware of seeing any 42" LCDs - that's a plasma thing.
But of the LCDs....Sony and Samsung seem to be held in the best regards amongst the members here. I've seen both in action and they do have a good looking picture...... .....for an LCD ![]() |

So I'm guessing I should decide between 40 and 46 if I choose to get an LCD?
