Default External HDD question

I have this drive:

http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=11085

When I hook it up to my PS3 I can fell/hear it getting power, but it is not showing up on the PS3. How do I remedy this?

What are you trying to access music or movies? Did you name the file folders appropriately (MUSIC, VIDEO)?

also be sure to format the drive in FAT32. The PS3 will not read NTFS drives.

Lol...this type of thread just shows up everywhere.

You need to get a thumb drive with the system updates and have the PS3 boot from the thumb drive.

I don't understand this or how it's relevant.

It's supposed to be:
PS3
MUSIC
VIDEO
THEMES

Right? The music music, video, themes, etc. have to be subfolders in PS3 and they have to be all caps. I may be wrong, but I thought this is how it's supposed to be setup.

Wow, I just answered all these questions in the other thread.

If the drive is not showing its because its NTFS and you can right click/properties on your PC to show this. If its FAT32 already it should show up no matter what directories you have on it.

You need a program like seagate disc wizard to format in fat32.

A good program to format in FAT32 is SwissKnife. (It's Free)
