Noob here. What do the experts think of this surge protector? Seems like a good deal to me.

Because I despise the whole concept of Monster anything, I would recommend Panamax devices like this one for about the same price:

Panamax PM8-HT Power line conditioner and surge protector

But that's just me.

I tend to stay away from Monster products not because they are bad, just because they are super over priced. You can get lots of other comparable brands that do the same thing for a lot less money.

I got mine at Walmart for like 40 bucks. Here is one at Walmart.com looks pretty good.

That one looks just like the one I got at Walmart except it didn't have all the colors, and it cost less.

Lifetime warranty or not I don't buy Monster products. Overpriced and overhyped in my opinion.

I work at an electronic retailer. We sell a lot of the Monster Surge protectors. They are great. But you shouldn't just get a surge protector. Get one that filters out electronic disturbance. Those are great. We tried it in the store. With some expensive equipment. First we hooked it up directly to the power supply and then with the Electronic Noise Filter from Monster. The sound was much clearer. I don't know how it is with the quality of electricity in the US though, we have 220v over here and you have 110v. Also over here the quality differs from district to district. I can just tell you that you will hear a big difference. I just checked amazon.com. If you live in the US you should go with the Monster Cable MP HT800 Home Theater PowerCenter. It's a similar product like we used. Only ours was made for european voltage. (It was called HT800 too).. So it seems to be the same product
