Top Gun freezes - Blu-ray Forum

Hello

I just put Top Gun in and everytime the popup menu appears it locks up. I have the Samsung dual format player. Is anyone else having trouble with Top Gun or have I just bagged a unlucky disc this time?

Top Gun plays fine in my Sony BDP S301 player FW 3.95.

I am not familiar with your player. Is it updated with the lastest firmware? Top Gun is a recent BD release. Out of date firmware might have problems with recent BD releases. Try the latest firmware for your player.

If your player is updated with the latest firmware and still has this problem, then, yes, I would suspect the BD if none of your other BDs have this problem. Take/send it back and exchange it.

It plays just fine on my crappy Sony BDP-S300. Is this the first Blu to give you this kind of trouble on your Samsung dual format player?

Looking I don't think I have the most up to date firmware, but yes this is the first blu I have had trouble with and I own about 30 now.

Hey I would show a little respect for the S300! It's a fine machine. Sure it's slow as snail for load times. However, it makes up for in AQ and PQ which are fantastic. I wouldn't call it crappy. It's rock solid and well built unlike the S350 which is much smaller, lighter, and cheaper looking. I have scratched that one off my wish list.

Instead, I am getting the Panny DMP BD30 sooner or later so I can get DTS-HD MA and DD TrueHD. It's another solid, well built player.
