I want decent audio, but only have 2 speakers and a sub.
I will have a: Sony BDP-S350 Sony 40" 1080p LCD TV S4100 I haven't bought the speakers yet, but like I said I can only have 2 + sub. My budget for speakers and a receiver is $600. |

I bought the Sony DG720 and Yamaha 5.1 set at BB and it was $588 total. I am really happy with this set up. Soes the BDP-S350 decode all the hi def audio? My PS3 does so I get all the Hi def using that instead of my Sony. The Sony reciever DOES the HDMI audio just if your wondering and its only $250 right now

It doesn't internally decode DTS-MA. I have no idea what that means though.

So you have all except the DTS-MA which some movies do have. The DTS-MA was just added to the PS3 through an update a couple months back. If you need to get a receiver that has the DTS-MA you looking at a few hundred dollars more I think. Not sure though. I think the Onkyo 606 has it all which is like $400.

What about the channels? If I have 2 speakers and 1 Sub, and a receiver says it's a 7.1 channel receiver, will they be compatible with each other?
Sorry know hardly anything about this stuff. |

Yep. You just have to mess around with the settings with some receivers. The main thing with the one I have is it came with the front speakers set to "Large" which makes them cover the bass instead of the SUB. I changed it to "small" and it uses the SUB again. There are alot of little things like that which can be tricky but for the most part any speakers will work.

Once you have a receiver your set. You can always add speakers as you go.

Because of room, and the way things are positioned in this room, I wouldn't be able to properly position the speakers because of where I'm sitting and it would sound weird. And I'd have no where to run wires unless they were showing.
