Default Receiver to pair with PS3?

I have an old school (non-hdmi) Denon receiver with Definitive Technology speakers all the way around (BP8B, BPX surrounds, and ProSub). Great setup except I can't take full advantage of Blu-Ray and the new sound features. I am looking to find a good sup-$500 receiver to pair with my PS3. Any suggestions on which receiver will best utilize the features of Blu-Ray and is also very easy to use (for wife/kids)? We (my Family) are big movie watchers, and I enjoy video games.

I have researched the Onkyo TX-SR606 seems like a great deal and I can get it for $350ish. Any info/inputs would be great, Thanks!

Since you're familiar with Denon you should check out the 1909.

Marantz is the upper-end line of Denon, but the entry level Marantz's are very affordable.....

I've bought one new, and one refurbed.... couldn't tell the refurbished one wasn't new.... so you may want to check this out if you like Denon

same one $100 more new

You may want to check into the Denon's as mentioned above, you can also get last years models 788/1908, 888, 988 for a great price as well. Also, I would check out the Pioneer VSX-1018 as well.

I personally have the Onkyo 705 with my PS3 and think its one of the best bang for your buck receivers out there. Its a little bit better than the new 706 from what I have been reading an alot better than the 605/606.

Now you talking The Pioneer 1018 & Yamaha 663 will fit your needs perfectly. & Sonys 820/920 isn't bad either.. Okyone is good, but is getting to be over kill.. Every forum I go to, 95% recommend the ok's.. I know they are good, but there are others out there that are just as good if not better, that get no mention.

Thanks for the info guys. I have plenty to compare and research now from all of your recommendations. This will be fun. Now I just have to convince the wife it's time to replace the 65" LCOS that we have, lmao.

I also had a great but older Denon AVR (2700.)

So,... I picked up a refurbished Denon 788 for $304.

It's great,... The refurbished Marantz also look like a great option.
