Default The Future of Optical Media

It's nice to find a good community to talk about my format of choice, Blu-ray Disc!

Anyway I've been doing a little personal research about BD and HD DVD and stumbled upon these interesting articles on Wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holographic_Versatile_Disc

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protein-coated_disc

I know it's a bit soon to talk about the successors to BD and HD DVD but I find this to be a major development in optical media. Right now we think that an 8 layer BD holding 200 GB is something to be impressed about, the HVD can hold up to 3.9 TB, and PCD can hold 50 TB.

What are you thoughts on this and the future of optical media?
