MGS4 about to go multi platform? - Blu-ray Forum

This would seem like a real kick in the teeth as it is one of the PS3s real big hitters but even if it did i guess we could take comfort that we wouldn't have to have a load of discs to keep swapping in and out to play the game.

Hideo Kojima is already planning on using all 50 GB on the blu-ray for MGS4, just imagine how many disks that would require and not to mention the xbox 360 version still wouldn't be as good.

I would relly love to see this stay as a total exclusive for the PS3s life span but having it as a 1 year exclusive is more realistic. Really wanna know what you guys think if our big hitter went multi-platform

With Kojima already planning to use 50GB for the PS3 version, a X360 version would be pale in comparison. I think the 360 version wouldn't even be worth it, because it would be so watered down.

Has an article been released stating that he'll release a version for XBOX 360?

I know the Nintendo Wii is a second addition but the XBOX 360?!?!?!? Then get ready for that version to lose tremendous market share in Japan.

Sony have Kojima productions tied in for MGS4, or did you not hear that Sony Pictures just paid $100m for the MGS movie rights. Rumours like this can only come from one place, MS.

Sony pictures may be releasing the MGS movie but does that by no means state that the MGS4 game will stay PS3 exlcusive.

it simply means sony will be releasing the MGS movie, to get back on to topic, this is about the MGS4 game going multi-platform and nothing whatsoever to do with the movie thats been announced

It means Sony are pumping money into Kojima productions, do you really think they did it out of the kindness of their hearts. Sony may have stipulated that they would like MGS4 to stay platform specific to the PS3 when movie the contract was drawn-up, a gentlemen's agreement if you will.

Although they have pumped money into it, how long do you exaclty think it will be before it goes multi-pltaform, never or after a year, thats what i'm trying to say.

This game really does belong on the PS3 and personally that is where it should stay as it would not be a masterpiece on any other console available.

Does anybody know exactly how many MGS games actually went to any other consoles than SONY's, it would certainly show us the likelyhood of MGS4actually going to any other console.

I feel the game would certainly get ruined on any other console than the PS3

The first two MGS titles came out for the PC, but the third one did not. Seriously you are getting worried over nothing, Konami have said in the past that they will be using the PS3 as the lead development console, while the X360 will be getting ports of those (non-exclusive) games. If it does come out on the X360 it will be very poor as it will not be customised to the X360's strengths like it will be on the PS3.

I expect MGS4 to stay PS3 exclusive for MINNINUM 1 year, if not more. They will also not announce a 360 version until much later down the line, IF EVER. Sony is working closely with Kojima for the movie, which makes for strong relations. Ontop of that, the game is going to be on a BD50, making it literally the biggest game of all time. So unless they plan on dropping the game onto 6 Dual Layer discs, they are going to have a hard time porting it.

I know that at the moment it's been billed as an exclusive and to think this masterpiece would be as good on any other console simply wouldn't happen.

Porting this title would pose a huge problem, the 1st would probably be trying to get the 3 cores of the 360 to run it as this game was designed to utilise the CELL.

2nd would be trying to get the graphics as good since this game is supposed to be 1080p and the 360 outputs at a maximum of 1080i and then has to upscale to 1080p.

3rd is quite clearly the amount of dual layer DVDs this would take up.

Konami will probably leave this masterpiece that is simply poetry in motion on simply the greatest console to grace earth to date, the PlayStation 3

Konami's official stance is that there are no plans for MGS4 to be anything other than exclusive to PS3.

It really depends on what your asking me to prove, if your asking me to prove the problem they would have porting this, it's simply some of the problems I thought they may run into.

If your asking me to produce evidence of it going multi-platform, it is simply a case of actual rumours that are doing the rounds again.

These rumours have always been started by MS to incite the xbots and get them to burn down Kojima productions and massacre them in cold blood etc...

MGS4 will not appear on the 360. Period. It may get some b.s. subsistence version a long time after the PS3 release, but it won't get THE MGS4.

Kojima has already said if he is going to bring something to 360 he wants it to be new.

Also, releasing MGS4 for 360 would dilute the series. Subsistence for Xbox was completely ignored. Now, to bring the 4th game when many xbox players are unfamiliar with the story and such, would be idiotic.

Now I know the 360-only owners are quick to rebut with "MS just has to show Konami some money" but despite what they think Konami doesn't tell Kojima what to do.

MGS4, I think, is going to be an incredible experience, and one of the games that will remind people why the Playstation name is so strong.

Kojima in a interview stated he wanted to develop a new series on 360...so i pretty sure MGS is going to be on PS..... besides a BD-50gb for a game... WoW... but he did state that the scenes and gameplay are all in 1080p, that would be like 8-9 disc for 360.....
