Default One heck of a company

Logitech is one heck of a company.

Seven months ago I purchase a used Logitech Harmony 1000 remote on E-Bay. Paid around $200.00 for a $500.00 remote. The remote worked fantastically for seven months and then it quit.

I contacted Logitech Customer Support a few weeks ago and they sent me, which I received today, a brand new remote.

I thought I was going to have to pay to have my old one fixed or purchase another.

Great company if you are considering a new remote.

I purchased a 676 (I think) when they were ~$50 during a big Amazon sale. After 6 months, the LCD screen went hooey (every other line was working). I contacted Logitech, and they had a brand new 670 (no longer made the 676) sent to me within the week. I will buy from them again.

Yeah they are not a bad company but there are negative points too. For instance my mouse is a wireless G7 laser mouse by Logitech. Nice well working accurate mouse no question there. But with time the batteries are getting weaker and will eventually die and Logitech does not sell replacement batteries meaning when the ones I have now die, the mouse is good for the trash.

The G7 batteries can only be bought online in the States, I wonder why they don't make them available in Europe. Strange.

You're probably better off getting a wirless mouse that takes AA batteries and use recharageable ones.

Ugh, it's the Apple IPOD all over again. Long story short, a guy asked for new battery because his simply no longer would hold a charge. Offered to pay, knew me might even have to send it in for repair. The point was, his Ipod was like 300 bucks and was useless in a year or less. Apple told him to buy a new one! Started a blog which received major attention - including the media. Apple changed policy and started doing repairs to change out the battery.

It sucks when you think a company is just being short sighted only to find out it was to stick it to the consumer for the double dip. I can see if the IPOD was 30 bucks because that is twice the cost of the battery alone. But $300?

Sometimes if you open an item you may find that the "permanant battery" is merely some generic AA or AAA NiCad, or equivilent.

I have a battery pack for a portable VCR with screen. Back in the day the player was still a monster. The 12v battery pack was only 4.5A NiCad. But it was neatly packaged in a sleeve with shoulder strap. Best portable battery I ever saw.

Well, it finally died but I held on to it though I sold the player. Couple of years ago I replaced those old rechargeable D cells with 10A NiMh D cells with solder tabs. I found a place online with a charger which cuts off when the charge is done. Something the old charge adaptor could not do, which also died. I now have a portable 12v 10A battery pack I can sling on my shoulder and use any device with an auto plug.

Yeah, I spent a pretty penny to do it, but it works!
