Default fronts to close to centre?

Hey everyone, just a quick question here. I've recently purchased an energy speaker system. It sounds great but there is one thing kind of bugging me. It seems like the centre channel is not loud enough. I'll turn it up to compensate for this but than the action parts blow me out of the water they are so loud. I have a pretty big centre channel, it's this one here

so do you think maybe my front speaks are to close to the centre?? Should I spread them out a little more. I turned the output up on my centre but I noticed the voices started getting distorted at times. Thanks
Here is a pic of how I have it set up now.

Also do you think I should move the subwoofer into the corner??

Try turning down your L/R channels. That is what I did.

yep...turn down your left and rights and have your center a few notches above your l and r. I had to do the same thing, your surrounds are over powering your center!

Is your center speaker selected as small or large in your set-up?

I have the same center and L/R channels as you. I do, however, have the Onkyo 605. I really had to turn down my sides so it wouldn't overpower my center. I also had to turn the bass way down on the 6000's so I wouldn't upset those living below me .

Congrats nothing.sound! Very nice display. Sounds like a calibration is in order. How far apart are your left & right speakers?

cool beans! have not met anyone elese on here who has the same speakers as me! they are great speakers! I need to get a new receiver, though the sony one that i have is pretty powerful, but i need to get lossless audio, i cannot even begin to imagine how much of an improvement it will make!

I found in the past dropping the levels of the front improved things for movies, but for music dvds it sounded terrible.

Manipulation of crossover points can be used to great effect to put some of the center channel information into the L/R speakers.

I actually think they meant us to listen to movies at reference levels which is impractical for most people....

Those 6000's are awesome. The 4-way design does my HT well, and for $120/pr, I could not pass them up. I was considering the Polk R300 when they were on sale for $40 each at frys, but I wasn't going to take 2-way speakers over 4-way speakers that were getting excellent reviews. I would recommend them to anyone on a tight budget.

this is where acoustics come in.

1. calibrate your set using a SPL meter.
2. have you tried to toe in your fronts? try em, see if it fits to your liking.
3. moving the sub towards the corner will probably emphasize a good amount of boominess towards it, but i personally dont consider boominess equals better sound tho.

it will of course affect your sweet spot and may introduce more standing waves within the listening area. try placing it right next to your right speaker but not TOO deep into the corner. at best right in the space between the speaker and the lively plant you have there. but dont replace the plant with the sub tho, like i said 'boominess' does not mean better.

long story short, decouple your center with these...

mopads

the best investment you can have for 40 clams. they decouple your speakers from its current position, and you can angle it properly towards the listening area. probably the first and best thing i always recommend to people when starting with acousitics.

word of caution tho, it WILL raise your center to about 4 inches, something to consider.
