OK, time to teach me about IR repeaters/extenders

Thanks to the group I have finally received everything I ordered a couple weeks ago. Onkyo 705, Polk Audio 6880 5.1 Surround system, and my Tripplite HT3100 PC Power Console. I'm getting ready to set everything up, but I've had to make some "enhancements" to our new shelving unit/console

Of course, I'd like to leave the doors shut (have cut and routed all sorts of venting in hidden places to help air escape out the rear and towards the top), and I am wondering, if I get an IR repeater, do I buy just one and then link it to all my different components? (tv, cable box, receiver, etc.).

Also, does anyone have a recommendation for a small yet effective IR repeater? If it is going to be in a sightline, I'd like it to be as unobtrusive as possible.

Thanks again for all your help and I'll post pics once everything is up and running (which will appeal more to those who have significant others who are particular about letting your equipment sit out in the open - and probably less so to the "power" users)
