Default PS3 Problem, Red Sreen

ok, so i have a weird problem. Have searched on here, google etc and cannot find anything on this

everything was fine with my ps3 until yesterday. i got a new sony receiver for lossless audio. My ps3 used to just connect to my tv via hdmi then i had an optical out to my old receiver. Now of course everything is running straight through HDMI. I switched Audio out to HDMI and now i have a weird problem

i have the sony Home theme as my theme which is blue in color. When i boot the ps3 all is well, now if i play a game when the game has loaded the screen is covered in a red tint! When i go back to the xmb the blue home background is red as well. it does not happen every time i play a game or watch a movie but it does seem to be increasing in frequency.

I have tried different HDMI cables and have tried different inputs on both the recever and the tv but this problem still exists! I do not get an error message like some people have shown on youtube etc, but i do get a sceen that is tinted red! Any idea what this is? anyone experienced this? Is my ps3 crapping out on me? any help appreciated

Have you tried connecting the PS3 directly back to the tv to see if this is a receiver issue? Uh nevermind, it sounds like you did. Is your PS3 still under warranty?

Maybe try resetting the AV outputs by holding the power button for like 5 seconds. I dont think this will do anything, but may be worth a try. Also try it on a different TV if you can to try and isolate the issue.

I'm thinking the same, try on a different TV or at least try another machine on the same TV like a DVD player, if you get that red screen again then it's not the PS3 but the TV, also try your ps3 at a friend's place. All this is important to make sure where the problem is. Then if it turns out to be the PS3 check the warranty indeed.

All great ideas! One more thing to try is to use component cables(if you have some), that way you can see if it is the HDMI port or a video card issue. It would still need to be fixed either way, but it would still be good to know.

never moved the sub. I determined that the receiver was to blame! I took the receiver ti BB and exhanged it for another one and all is well now! It must of had a shoddy input / output!

Thanks to everyone for your help! It is greatly appreciated!

Rock On ~

I'm still using the original settings, I keep it on cinema mostly. But last time I played Uncharted I tried the game mode and I think it brought out a lot more in the graphics. I may eventually get one of those calibration discs, but so far I've been pleased with the out of the box settings. All in all, from the styling, to the picture, to the amazing price it is the best tv I've ever owned. And this is coming from a KDS-55A2020 SXRD. Good choice

i am amazed with the tv. Never thought i would own a plasma but had 2 bad lcd's! I too use cinema, def the most natural color output. I'm really happy with the settings i has settles on. HD cable looks great and blu's are just mind blowing! i used dve to get the calibration just right!
