Default Circuit City tries to sell me "Monster speakers"

So I'm looking around Circuit City yesterday trying to look at new speakers and get some ideas(bought new ones online today) and the Sales kid comes over. So I tell hime I'm looking to upgrade my speakers and we start to head over to the speakers and he stops at a setup with you guessed it "Monster" brand speakers. I stopped him right there and said you can show me Polk, JBL, Klipch but I don't buy Monster anything.
I was kinda shocked because I didn't realize Monster was making speakers now. Anyway, he didn't try to push them, he showed me some others. This morning I ordered the ones I wanted online.
Damn, Monster has become a monster.....

I didn't check what they were selling for, but since I know their cables are overpriced I figured the speakers would be too. I wonder how many people they will sucker, Saying something like how much better everything will sound if they use Monster speakers with their Monster cables.

I have found out recently that the Monster professional cables (like XLR etc) are like competitively priced, totally unlike their consumer cables. That's probably because consumers are more focussed on cable brands than professionals are. Sorry to change the subject a little. It's just over-priced mediocrity.

Yup I bought some MIDI cables and they were about the same (maybe a little more but they have a thicker casing) price as any other MIDI cable from a known brand... my friend/co-worker bought some XLRs and same story.

They're not all the expensive, unless you consider they're Monster. I'll take my Monitor 7s for the same price, thank you...

Overall they are fantastic speakers, very musical, great for home theater, and they are THX certified. However, due to the Monster logo on them they are horribly overpriced.

If you could find them on clearance or "blowout" prices they would be a great buy.

Just to give you an example, Canuckaudiomart.com had the 12 inch sub for 450.00 and the surrounds for 250.00 a pair, I almost bought them but they sold out before I could even contact the guy.

Edit> just looked at the link, those must be the cheap ones, they have a high end line as well, surrounds where MSRP 850 and the sub was 1199.00.

Those don't sound very good at all and they are way overpriced. I was not impressed at all by them when I heard them about two years ago. I'd go with a Paradigm system that would sound much better and cost less than half probably.

Monster gear for 1/4 price I'd buy it, they have a reputation for making overpriced product, not crap, just my opinion though.

You aren`t going to buy B&W anything for 250.00 bucks let alone a sub for 450.00.

My dad got a open box bookshelf/center B&W speaker for 200 to 250. He's using it as a center. Bad ***.

They actually dont sound that bad, and CC employees have a mfg accomodation from monster and gets 60% off anything. Not bad speakers, not the best, but definately good for a cabling company.

Monster has been making speakers for a few years now. There OK, IMO there like everything else Monster makes, works good but over priced.

If you want good bang for the buck speakers check out www.AV123.com
