one of the drugs in the game was called morphine so they changed the name of it and took out the animations of the character injecting/taking drugs and yes every copy being released will have the same content as everywhere else.

Ok I found confirmation in a trustworthy french website that I know well, about this issue. Only the reason for the banning of this game in Japan is not nudity but violence !
However this news says that it is strange considering other games such as Silent Hill or Resident Evil allowed for sale in Japan. So, the article goes on saying that either Dead Space goes further in violence than what is known in the genre or Japan is frustrated of not having anymore the "monopoly" of Survival Horror games ... http://www.jeuxvideo.com/news/2008/0...t-au-japon.htm |

I really gotta wonder why video game developers are feeling it necessary to take the level of 'gore' to the point of being banned now-a-days.
It really seems there are a million better ways to get your game noticed then such an uncreative and, frankly, unnecessary one. The increased gore really is doing nothing for me. In fact, I think it's starting to turn me off to a lot of games and I'm not someone who really cares about the things censors do. It just seems WAY over the top lately... As in, totally unrealistic (with the exception of sniper shots... those are grossly unrealistic in the non-gore way in most games actually... a head shot from a .50cal at 1500 yards would actually rip an entire body in half under most conditions). |

It would make sense for it being Nudity, as even pornography in Japan has to be censored by law. Everything that's sold uncensored in Japan is a part of the black market. Violence as reported by that French site? i highly highly highly doubt that lol ![]() |
