Default I just noticed...

... that I have some diagonals bands going up my screen when watching a BD on my PS3, anyone knows what that could be? could it come from my HDMI cable?

From what I understand "banding" issues are pretty serious. Let's hope it's your HDMI cable, although that almost seems unlikely as they are fairly constant and reliable.

I suppose you'd have to figure out the "problem" by process of elimination.

Do you have a friend or someone that could bring over his/her PS3 and see if the problem persists? If it goes away, then you know it's most likely your PS3, but somehow I doubt that. I think "banding" issues are inherent to the TV's, and not the componants. But I could be wrong as I am far from being an expert.

I hope you get it solved!

John, I'm not sure it's the TV because I don't have the banding while watching DirectTV or my DVD player.

Excellent to hear that! And I think that also solves the issue of your HDMI cable.

Do you see the banding with every blu-ray?

I spoke too soon before asking...is your Direct TV and DVD player connected via HDMI?

Hehe, no. They are not. The PS3 is the only thing using a HDMI.

If it's a Monster cable or Monoprice, e-mail them and tell them you have a faulty cable and would like a replacement. They'll send you a new one free of charge.

Well, if it's the HDMI cable it's from Monoprice.
And are they weak or something? I had previously ordered a 3 feet cable from them and it was DOA and now this one?

Everything I've gotten from Monoprice has been top notch quality. You must have gotten a lemon (hopefully not anything to do with your TV or PS3).

Banding could be from the movie itself (ie inherent to the source) or it could be your tv settings. Do you possibly have different settings for blu-ray vs. directv or other inputs? You may want to try tweaking them or bringing down the brightness.

I would do that before assuming it was the HDMI cable. I've never heard of signal degradation like that via a digital connection.

*edit* or am I reading it wrong in what you're describing?
