Default Energy drink alternatives?

So...I have some night classes and I have to drink a Monster/Amp to keep me awake through them. Energy drinks scare me, there's so much weird crap in them, and they make my heart race. I tried drinking tea, but it doesn't work nearly as well. Same with coffee. What else should I try?

Thanks!

I drink a Red Bull every day I goto work and then follow it with 5 cups of water throughout the day.

A good way to maintain energy is to start working out.

I was on Rockstars but now on Monster. Most aren't as bad as people make them out to be. Just look up some of the ingredients. I was drinking one or two Pepsis each morning, so compared to that the Monster is an improvement.

Plus, the phosphoric acids found in most colas can actually limit your body's ability to absorb calcium, especially at the quantities I was drinking. The Monsters don't have that effect. After I had a bone density scan they started asking me a bunch of questions. Ends up that was why.

I know this sounds really stupid, but I just drink a lot of water. Probably 3 quarts to a gallon per day. I work all day, and go to class at night. I'm rarely tired.

Yea, water and tea is about I drink now. I probably drink ~7 bottles of water a day. I stopped drinking soda a few months ago.

Drinking alot of water will keep you awake since you have to go to the bathroom alot. A story I heard was that the day before a battle native Americans would drink alot of water before they went to sleep.

I don't know but maybe its just me but these energy drinks just freak me out I guess its just some of the stuff that they put in it.

Gimme a cup of coffee anytime of the day and I am good.

Stay away from Bawls then. I drink those when I really need to wake up. I can drink 2 Red Bulls and a cup of coffee without jitters or an increased heart rate but one can of Bawls and I'm on edge and twitchy. That thing has an insane amount of caffine.

Lately at work I've done 1 Red Bull in the morning, then throughout the day I alternate a cup of coffee and water.

I love and hate my hours. I work from 6-2:30 so I can beat traffic but I work 45minutes away so I have to get up at 4:30 to get here in time.

I drink about 4-5 full throttles/rockstars/nos a night at work. So if there's any major side effects I'll know very fast.

Of course if there ARE major side effects, I am a walking lawsuit waiting to happen I think. Right now I am killing the Rockstar Roasted Mocha's hard core. The problem is you build up an immunity to them I think. It used to be one or two would tide me over through the entire day plus not be able to sleep, now I can chug a can and go right to bed.

One thing I HAVE noticed though, I'm having wierd and vivid dreams since I started drinking them. Anybody else have that happen from energy drinks?

But as alternatives, there's some stuff at GNC, I wish I remembered the name, it's basicly legal speed. It's 100x better then any energy drinks, but talk about getting your heart racing. You'd feel like you just drank like 10 red bulls. Ask a nutrition store like GNC about energy pills, it's probably got a LOT less junk then monster and all.

Hey, all I do is mix a bag of sugar with a gallon of water. Works every time. Does give me quite a pain in my feet though.

Yea...I need to be able to stay awake and focus on algebra, and I probably shouldn't take energy pills because they'll counteract my add medicine....lol

I'm looking for a more natural alternative, like special teas.

I used to buy Psuedoephedrine from there until they realized that people were buying it to manufacture meth. This stuff is really bad for you though if you have high blood pressure.

What gets me wired also are those new Starbucks cans. Not the small double shots, the huge cans they sell now.

i drink Sencha every morning, one single cup, and then water the rest of the day... green tea will relax you but it won't make you drowsy... its like waking up and drinking hot cocoa or something... it wakes you up and makes you feel comfortable and relaxed

Mini thins FTW! Ahh, those were the days, I almost miss the junk you buy in high school to keep you awake for the finals week.

I'm addicted to Red Bull (works great!) but I'll switch it up with coffee every few days. Of course, I drink my Starbucks coffee black, so no adverse sugar downer.
