Default Help with audio types

I just need some help with understanding the different types of audio Blu-ray movies can have i.e Dolby Digital, Lossless, DTS-HD MA. I just get confused with which is better. If someone could give a quick list or a link to a thread, that would be great. I just want to understand the audio more.
Thanks

Typically a bluray will have only 1 lossless audio format to play. Either DTS-HDMA, Dolby True HD, or Uncompressed PCM. You want to run either one...

Are you currently able to use HD audio? Or have you yet to get one?

If one of those can be called "the best," then it's Uncompressed PCM - as there is no compression whatsoever and it is a bit for bit replica of the stuidio master.

Hey question. i noticed this in that thread. "DOLBY PRO-LOGIC II & DOLBY PRO-LOGIC IIx
Dolby Pro-Logic is very disappointing when you play a CD or stereo album through it. For this reason, Dolby Laboratories introduced Dolby Pro-Logic II (DPL II). It creates 5.1 discrete channels (5 channels are full-bandwidth) from stereo CDs, old Dolby Surround movies, Laser Discs, and DVDs that were not mastered for 5.1."

Now, i dont think you can call it discrete if its actually taking 2 channels and matrixing 5.1 or higher, right?

Correct. And they should all sound the same. However, only one of the lossless formats is uncompressed.

Well theorically DD True, DTS HD MA and PCM will give you the same thing. DTS is recorded 4db+ than the other and some people think it's better because it's louder but in fact that's just it. There's good TrueHD trac, DTS Track and PCM track outthere

You are correct--it is not discrete 5.1.
