These 2 films have been out on region free Blu Ray for over a month now and yet still do not appear on this web site
The Fog is featureless but Escape from New York has tons of features and looks awesome in high def Any idea when they will appear on the site and are people outside of the UK aware they are region free? |

I own both discs. They both suffer from some amount of black crush, which helped in the compression but at the expense of shadow detail. The Fog uses the same transfer used on MonstersHD. It's good, but I'm not sure the glowing fog is supposed to be as bright as it is. In some scenes it's blinding.
Escape From New York uses a transfer I've never seen before. It's much different (and far less detailed) than the transfer shown on HDNet Movies. However, the blu-ray seems more in line with the "Dean Cundey" look, with lots of saturated blues in the night shots. The HDNet version is much brighter but less stylized. |

I compared my dvd of The Fog to the new Blu-Ray and some scenes are amazingly inmproved such as when Stevie Wayne drives to and arrives at the lighthouse...just how blue is that sky? But some darker scenes such as when everyone is in the church look very grainy an old.
On the whole still better than the dvd. ![]() |

Got my UK Escape From New York Blu-ray today. It looks way better than any DVD or laserdisc version Iīve seen, but itīs no reference disc either...
And itīs my very first Blu-ray that does NOT include any subtitles (not eve English). And thatīs a shame. |
