Default E.T. : The Extra-Terrestrial

Does anyone know if they are in talk or if there is anything about ET coming out on blu-ray? This would be amazing if they did a complete remaster of the movie and created a spectacular work of art for this Format.

Hopefully we get the theatrical cut, but if we must I'll take the "No Guns" version also.

I saw it in 1080i HD on HDnet Movies Channel a few weeks ago. so I would guess it may be in the works?

my guess would be the blu-ray would have ether just the new 2002 Dir. Cut
or both OTV and NDC.

it looked and sounded great. I hope they can release both cuts of the film like Warners did with 'Blade Runner'

Ugh. The "no guns" version will be an instant "no buy" for me, even if it came with the original. This PC shinola has gone too far when the director changes his film decades later to fit modern society.

If they ever did that to a Stanley Kubrick film I'm sure he would roll over in his grave. We need a :rollingoveringrave: emote.

When Universal released the ULTIMATE Box Set edition a few years back it came with a bunch of different versions the original theatrical version / the new version with the oddball changes / and a special version with a score track conducted at a screening by John Williams... I woudl say if we get E.T. on blu they will also do a nice edition like this also. Speilberg seemed to do a good set with Sony for Close Encounters of the Third Kind

As long as Spielberg is directly involved, I think there is reason for optimism.

Nothing yet..I'd say we may end up hearing something about a 30th Anniv. edition. Then again..we didn't get Jaws for the 35th this year..so who knows.

At this point, they're probably waiting for 2012.

At the rate of what Spielberg movies has started to pop up which is like one a month I would say it can't be too incredibly much longer. I'm hoping we keep getting announcements on his movies.

Seen it in HD last month on TVAHD. Looked pretty good. One thing was rather strange, the infamous scene, the police had guns and not radio in their hands, so I was rather surprise and expecting to see the new edition. Will this mean the Blu-ray will be the same?
