Hi guys, i was wondering if anyone can help before I throw my laptop through the window!! I have a shiny new Transformers Blu-ray disc just asking to be played at top volume but when I connect my laptop to the TV via the HDMI lead the disc stops playing and I get an error message about an incompatible driver or something. Error 122?
Please help a partially computer illiterate fella asap before my brain explodes Many thanks |

To change this, you need to setup your notebook so that your primary display is your external HDTV, and only that - no notebook display, single display configuration only. Once that's done you shouldn't have any problems, save for audio. HDMI audio isn't automatic at either end (Notebook or HDTV) - they have to be set to transmit and receive. On your notebook, open your Sound options (Control Panel, Sound) then set your Sound default to HDMI or SPDIF. If you don't, your notebook speakers will carry the sound while your movie plays on your HDTV. Changing the default will redirect the audio to the external display. On the external display - not all HDTV's will automatically recognize HDMI channel inputs, and they have to be set to either automatically see it or be manually set to see the connection. Remember also that your HDTV has its own settings - your notebook GPU only drives the video signal to it. If you're not using multiple displays, then the first thing you should do is update your BD playback software from the Acer site, or use the update feature in the program itself to update it to the latest version. As for drivers (and even program updates) if you're not that familiar with updating them, go to Radarsync.com and download the scan module there. Running it on your system will allow RS to tell you what drivers and updates are available for your system and will link you to them. Many of the large companies (e.g., Intel) use RS for driver distribution. |
