Default Need a cheap HTIB for my Plasma

I need a cheap HTIB for my 720p/1080 42" Panasonic Plasma. The cheaper the better, reccomend everything. It's going to be used for Blu-Ray watching, and Gaming, and Upscaled DVD's, and TV Programming.

I think you should give a budget number. What's cheap to you may not be cheap to someone else.

hmm. lets put it this way.

id rather have that money you would push towards getting your htib and find a decent setup you might want to invest in, for the future.

lets say we use 300 clams to buy a htib, im sure that somewhere along the road, you will end up upgrading your system. that 300 clams couldve been used towards your future purchase, getting more bang for the buck.

im sure its not what you'd want to hear, but just a piece of advise.

good luck on the htib. get some specs in here, and maybe a couple of others would vouch to help...

price
room dimensions

for a start

This is the ordeal, I want it to be cheap because I'm kind of trying to save for a 50" 1080p Panasonic at the same time.. and I want to have the cheap HTIB for when I get it, so I won't be using stock speakers, then I can upgrade from there. I was thinking around $300-400, anything under than that would be nice. I'm not a Audiophile at all, so anything to me is better than stock speakers. I'm just a very big Videophile.

It's for a small room, like a bedroom type size.

I'm also debating on if next years Panny Panels will be cheaper than then this year's 50" 1080p panels, or how much this years panels will drop when purchasing my new set around December-January.

Try this one: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-HTCT100-S.../dp/B0015HS1HQ

The Sony Sound Bar has gotten good user reviews, is a good price ($299.99), and has gotten a great review by CNET: http://reviews.cnet.com/home-theater...-32923460.html

Plus, since you'll be using it in a bedroom, it'll be easy to set up.

Onkyo HT S6100

Amazon has it for $579. It isn't the cheapest HTiB, but the receiver is very nice for a HTiB and wouldn't need upgrading any time soon.

Check out the Onkyo 606 and Polk package in my sig below. Monoprice for cables and wire. 99% of the time, supplied speakers wire is extremely thin, low-quality, and not long enough anyways. Why not save and get a package you don't have to upgrade later on (unless you become an enthusiast ). Do it right the first time I say.

I don't get how it sounds like you have rear speakers with it. What if I went with a $300 Onkyo 5.1?

As far as HTIBs go, Onkyo makes "great" ones--comparatively speaking.
If you absolutely can't hold off, I would highly recommend an Onkyo HTiB. But--and take this from someone who thought he would be perfectly satsified with an Onkyo HTiB--the cheaper the system, the faster the upgrade bug hits. It's inevitable. My HTiB lasted me two years, and now...well, look at my sig. I'm springing for a major upgrade.

Waiting and saving will pay huge dividends down the road...all the more so the longer you can wait.

Coming from someone who has owned a LOT of RCA products (I have someone in the family that works for Thomson Consumer Electronics):

DON'T buy an RCA product. Their quality has completely dissapated.

Another suggestion from someone that started with an RCA HTiB, then went to an Onkyo 605/Polk RM6750 combination, and is now upgrading to bigger and better speakers: do it right the first time. Expand your budget, even if it means taking longer or waiting. In the end, you'll be much happier.

If not... wanna buy my Polk RM6750 set?

You would be better off going with driver kings suggestion.Take it from a former htib owner biggest waste of 300 dollars ever.
