Default BioShock 2 - Sinclair Solutions Test Pack DLC Coming Next Month

Genre: First-person shooter, survival horror, action/adventure
Players: 1 (Single-player), 6-12 (Multiplayer
Rating: M (ESRB), 18 (BBFC)
Release: February 9, 2010
Bonuses: Zigo d'Acosta and Mlle Blanche de Glace Multiplayer skins for pre-ordering the game from GameStop

STORY

Set on New Year's Eve of 1970, ten years after the events of BioShock, Rapture is now under the control of a woman named Sofia Lamb, whose ideas of human progression contrasts with the city's deceased founder, Andrew Ryan. While Ryan believed in the genius of the individual, Lamb believes in collective effort and the power of the community, as well as a philosophy surrounding butterfly imagery, indicating some kind of rebirth. This message is spread by a deranged ex-priest named Father Wales, who has created a cult-like religion around Sofia. During Sofia's rule, a mysterious figure known as the Big Sister, an ex-little sister outfitted with Big Daddy armor, harbored herself in Rapture, capturing little girls across the coastline to turn them into Little Sisters. Now, the original Big Sister has disappeared, and the remaining Big Sisters are employed by Sofia to keep order in the city.

CHARACTERS

Subject Delta: The main protagonist of the game. He is the first Big Daddy to be successful bonded to a Little Sister, and has the ability to use plasmids and gene tonics. He awakens from a state of hibernation he was put in ten years ago, and is determined to find the Little Sister he bonded with several years ago.

Sofia Lamb: The main antagonist in the game, Lamb is an altruist with an ideology very different from Ryan's. She believes everyone has a duty in the world, and has taken over Rapture which she rules with an iron fist.

Bridgette Tennenbaum: The genetic scientist who helped originally develop ADAM. She is also the "mother" of the Little Sisters; she created them, and cares a great deal about their safety. She assists Subject Delta during the course of the story.

The Big Sister: They are post-pubescent Little Sisters that have become unstable in Rapture's environment. They have been capturing girls off the surface and drag them into Rapture to convert them into Little Sisters in order to stabilize the Rapture ecology.

Father Wales: One of Lamb's lieutenants, Father Wales resides in Siren Alley and is the main enforcer of Lamb's vision. He is responsible for altering that vision into a cult easily understood by the Splicers.

Augustus Sinclair: The inventor of the Vita-Chamber is still alive during the events of Bioshock 2. Delta meets him in person early in the game, after he asks the player to lend him service upon entering Ryan Amusements.

MULTIPLAYER

BioShock 2 will feature a story driven Multiplayer mode where the player takes on the role of a citizen of Rapture. Set in 1959 (one year before the events of BioShock), the player chooses to take on the role of a splicer fighting in Rapture's Civil War. The player is being sponsored by Plasmid manufacturer, Sinclair Solutions, to test out their weapons, Plasmids, and Tonics in a consumer reward program. As you progress through the multiplayer experience your character will unlock new weapons and Plasmids, provided by Sinclair, as well as progress the story of the Rapture Civil War.

The player can choose between 6 characters to be their in-game avatar. The characters are: a welder named Jacob Norris, a housewife named Barbara Johnson, a football star named Danny Wilkins, a businessman named Buck Raleigh, a pilot named Naledi Atkins, and an Indian mystic named Suresh Sheti.

There are 5 multiplayer modes:
  • Survival of the Fittest: A 'free-for-all' mode where each player gets points for killing each of the other players. Whichever player has the most kills at the end of the match wins.
  • Civil War: Similar to 'Survival of the Fittest,' but in this mode players are divided into two teams and the team with the most collective kills at the end of the match wins.
  • Last Splicer Standing: A variation of 'Survival of the Fittest' where the player does not respawn after being killed. The last player alive at the end of the match is the winner.
  • Capture the Sister: A 'Capture the Flag' style mode where players are divided into two teams. One team has to protect a Little Sister while the other team tries to steal her and place her in a vent on the other side of the map. After a pre-determined amount of time, the teams switch roles. Whichever team has the most captures at the end of the match wins.
  • ADAM Grab: In this mode there is one Little Sister on the map and the player must seek her out and maintain possession of her as long as possible. Whoever has held onto the Sister longest at the end of the match wins.
  • Team ADAM Grab: A variant of 'ADAM Grab' where players are divided into two teams. The objective is the same, but victory is determined by a collective score rather than individual scores.
  • Turf War: Players are split into two teams and each team must reach pre-determined points on the map to capture that point. The team with the most control points over the longest time wins.

I have it's great, but i can't say if you've played that many times on the 360
that's it's worth dropping another $60.00, but definately worth renting if
your still gonna play again...

If you can get a good trade in price for your 360 version and only are
paying like $25-30 for the PS3 than i say go for it

Default Bioshock 2 Is Both Sequel And Prequel

http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/3958.html
Quote:
By now, even though Bioshock PS3 doesn't hit store shelves in the U.S. until next week, you're probably already aware of that bonus trailer you unlock after completing the game. If you need a refresher course or just missed it entirely, check yesterday's update.

Obviously, with this new video out there, we're going to want to gather in as many details for the sequel as humanly possible. Thankfully, according to WhatIfGaming, 2K Marin has decided to release a quick piece of baseline information for Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams. Evidently, 2K developer Charles Schechbeck said this sequel is also part prequel...here's what he said in response to the site's question regarding the teaser trailer for Bioshock 2:

"BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams is part of a prequel and at the same time is a sequel, so you're kind of close on the interpretation of the trailer. The rising replica of Rapture can represent something to do with this or something part of a bigger surprise that everyone has to wait and see to play."

Okay, so we're looking at a cross between a sequel and a prequel (not sure how they're gonna do that), and apparently, the game is certainly confirmed for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. Like we said before, we knew 2K had been planning a sequel for a while, but Sea of Dreams has officially debuted thanks to that unlockable trailer. More incentive to buy and play Bioshock on the PS3, ladies and gents.

Default Bioshock 2 officially on PS3, goes multiplatform

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/10/24/...oes-multiplat/

By now, you must have seen the footage of that BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams teaser trailer. The trailer, which supposedly gets unlocked after beating the newly released PS3 title, led people to believe that the aquatic adventure's second voyage would also make a PS3-bound journey. Dispelling rumors, 2K Games confirmed to Gamespot that Sea of Dreams will be a multiplatform release "destined for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC platforms."

2K did not specify whether this multiplatform announcement meant a simultaneous release across all platforms. The PS3 version of the first BioShock launched exactly one year after its 360 counterpart. It wouldn't be surprising to see a similar case of timed-exclusivity happen again.

seems to me its clear it wont be a time exclusive

Default BioShock 2 slated for 2009 release

http://www.qj.net/BioShock-2-slated-.../49/aid/127459

Quote:
Short but sweet update.

Take-Two Interactive is planning to release BioShock 2 (Xbox 360, PS3) in 2009. Oh, you say you already got all that from the title alone and I'm wasting your time with filler text? Why, yes, I am.

The announcement was given in the company's financial results in an open statement by Chief Executive Officer Ben Feder:

We're excited about our 2009 pipeline, which will include [many titles]…as well as new offerings from such powerful franchises as BioShock, Mafia and the 2K Sports roster.

I'd have preferred a more specific date than a 12-month period though. For all we know, it'd be released December next year. You say I'm being a buzzkill? Why, yes, I am. It's my Christmas spirit showing.
according to ign, no platforms have been announced. but it safe to say it will release on the ps3

Default Bioshock 2 To Feature Multiplayer?

http://www.gamingfront.net/story-180-.html

Quote:
It appears that Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams will have a multiplayer mode, and will be available for the PC,PS3,and 360.

The following is a recent posting on gamasutra.com’s job listings section:

Leading multiple engineers within a proven team to design and build a network frontend and backend support for an action-packed AAA multiplayer title

• Advising engineers on how to properly architect their systems for optimal multiplayer support

• Extending and enhancing Unreal Engine 3 with proprietary networking tech to address gameplay, performance, platform, production, tools, and QA needs

• Interfacing with Microsoft, Sony, and other providers for matching-making and other services

• Working with the Technical Director, Lead Programmer, and IT Director to plan and execute major changes to core technology or backend services

• Responsible for delivering a robust, scalable, and responsive multiplayer gameplay code and backend services for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 platforms

The BioShock team is betting big on multiplayer and plans to stay at the top of the charts– we’re careful about the problems we tackle, innovative in our approach, solid in our implementation, and we polish the heck out of everything we do. Right now we’re looking for an exceptional individual to direct the development of this multiplayer experience through a combination of leadership, design, coding, and daily problem solving on the gameplay networking and backend server components.

to me..this is one of those games where i don't want multiplayer. the single player is SO good..there's no need to waste time with multi.

Seems like another franchise that is doing MP for the sake of it. I suppose the Xbox Live gold subscribers have to justify their fees and not having MP would dent the chances of them buying the game. 2K are just being fiscally smart.

Multiplayer.... if it is done well... will add tons of replay value to any game. I never actually purchase games that only have a single player campaign. Those are always a rent only because for me they usually have no replay value at all. Even if the multi-player is just a co-op mode.. I will go through the story line a second or third time with a friend.

Multiplayer story mode could be interesting. That seems to be happening less and less as of late. It would be especially cool if it was different than the single player campaign in some ways.

viral stuff here we come! man i'm so excited

http://www.somethinginthesea.com/

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/05/th...oshock-2-info/

Quote:
Details are (probably intentionally) slim on this mysterious site, www.somethinginthesea.com, discovered by a Joystiq tipster. At the moment, it's nothing but a picture of a map, with a marking labeled 2/20/67, and a few weathered documents in front of it. But it's totally marketing for BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams.

One of the papers is the image seen above, which is a drawing of the same Big Daddy doll seen in the BioShock 2 trailer. One of the letters describes the doll a bit: "The head resembles a helmet, the feet could be heavy boots." The letter speculates that the doll "resembles particulars" of an "attacker" that carried out a recent kidnapping.

We're presenting the trailer again after the break, in the hope that one of you BioShockologists will see some new connections between the material on the site and the trailer. Let us know in the comments!
