Default No HDMI on HDTV

Hi all, before I begin, I want to say that I have an older Pioneer Elite 1080i HDTV and it has no HDMI input. I recently bought a Samsung BD-P1500 from Amazon and it will be arriving shortly. Forgive me for not having a huge vocabulary or understanding for the this technology, I just wanted to know a couple things...

1. Since I do not have an HDMI input, will I still be able to connect the player through the red blue green inputs on the TV(sorry if my terminology is incorrect)?

2. If so, will the quality suffer at all?

Like I said, I have a 1080i television and the player is 1080p, as are all Blu-ray discs, but the TV is a very high end, expensive HDTV and the quality is fantastic on such things as HBO HD or Starz HD or any of the HD channels I get, so yes.

I'm sorry if this topic was misplaced, but it was basically concerning how the player will perform on my TV. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear your input.
