Convert PAL DVD to play on NTSC PS3?

As the title says I wish to convert a PAL DVD on my computer to ANY format my NTSC PS3 can read from the hard drive. I don't want to stream it, as I have gobs of hard drive space on the PS3. It is a music DVD so I would like to keep the sound quality as near as possible. It has 5.1 DD and Stereo ... I have a feeling 5.1 is out of the question? If there is a way to convert it to a NTSC DVD straight up I obviously would go for that but I believe that isn't possible without the video studdering....right? Anyway does anyone have any suggestions on freeware that can do this?
