Default Home Media Magazine: Sharp Has HDTV with Built-In Blu-ray

An interesting short article from Home Media Magazine:

Sharp Has HDTV with Built-In Blu-ray

By Chris Tribbey | Posted: 17 Oct 2008

It’s only going to be available in Japan to start, however, Sharp’s new Aquos DX line of LCD HDTVs — the first to integrate a built-in Blu-ray player — could come overseas soon, and could represent the future of HDTVs.

Ranging in sizes from 26 to 52 inches, and at prices of just under $2,000 to $5,000, the HDTVs will be available in three colors.

cool. i read about this over on engadget. sharp have confirmed that this tv with built in blu will be released here next year! I am surprised this has taken so long to materialize! i thought some tv manufacturers would have done this long ago!

wonder what kind of audio output it will have??

...if you cannot send Lossless to a receiver, would not be worth it to me.

Never been a fan of combo anything. To me, once you start cramming things into places they weren't meant to be, you start to have problems. I suppose, though, that the same folks who bought TV/DVD combo units will end up buying these.

Yet another thread on this topic. The player is removeable, thus I assume, serviceable and upgradeable. Sharp stole my "blade" concept.

I wouldn't trash this unit just yet as the specs are not out. But, for the sake of price I will assume some sacrifices were made. Sharp is not a terrible brand, but they are no Sony or Samsung.

I have a Sharp 19" HDTV which I use mostly as a computer monitor. No big complaints.

This sort of thing would be ideal for my parents but unless it ends up very, very inexpensive it'll be up to me to buy it for them. Hope they're pretty cheap by the time they hit the US.
