Hi
This is what i'm looking for in a bluray player Fast load times No freezing of discs or incompatibility issues (i owned the BDP1400 for a week and it froze and wouldnt play certain discs even with firmaware update) I DONT care for BD-Live (I own a Ps3 for that and never use it anyway) So that being said, here are my only options (since i will be buying from futureshop in canada) Samsung Blu-ray Disc Player (BDP1500) $279.99 cnet.com gives it a 3/5 but mentions bluray picture quality could be better Panasonic Blu-ray Disc Player (DMPBD30) $279.99 cnet.com gives it 3/5 as well Sharp Blu-ray Disc Player (BD-HP20U) $199.99 cnet.com gives it 2.5/5 and says fast loads, but poor 1080i deinterlacing Sony Blu-ray Disc Player (BDPS350) $299.99 cnet.com ives it 3.5/5 and says it uses power eben when off? |

From what you have listed and what you are looking for the S350 is the best. If you are not concerned it is the most expensive on you list and you can afford it I say go with it. It seems for what you want the S550 is not necessary. The BDP1500 is also a very nice player but I have not seen the Panny or Sharp in action.

The price of Sony BDP-S550 is $330, free shipping on Amazon and Sony BDP-S350 is $266, free shipping.
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-BDP-S550-...4641464&sr=1-1 http://www.amazon.com/Sony-BDP-S550-...4641464&sr=1-1 You may find lower prices on the web, but Amazon is reliable. The S550 is a better deal, particularly if you decide to sell it at a future date for something newer or better. |

I too bro don't pesonally care fro BD-live (does look intersiteing though) But after haveing a standalone player and now have a PS3. I personally STRONGLY incurage you to just get a another PS3, it slams any standalone player out there as far as laoding times
