Default Good place to buy projectors in Toronto?

Hi all, hopefully this isn't a repost.

I'm new to the world of front projection, and I'm doing a favour for my brother who's out of town, and looking to purchase a projector for him.

Does anyone know of a good place to buy them in Toronto, Canada?

I'm sure I can search for some online retailers that might ship to Canada, but I'd rather try to find one in-store.

I'll likely visit Bay Bloor Radio, and Kromer Radio, but was wondering if anyone knew of any other places that might carry front projectors, at likely lower prices than the previous two, more upscale stores.

Many thanks in advance for your help guys/gals.

EDIT:
Specifically, I've been asked to buy the Panasonic PTAE3000.

I've been in Sound Designs down at the Distillery District - they seemed to know their stuff, but again they're higher end.
I would decide on the model you're interested in and search for dealers nearby. Most smaller places should be willing to do some negotiating on price. And though they may not be as cheap as a box store, the service will be light years better...

Thanks guys for the info.

I should've noted this in my first post (I've made the edit now), but I'm specifically looking to pick up the Panny PTAE3000.

I've heard that the projector prices in Canada are close to double that in the States?!

Is that true? Man... no wonder my brother kept asking me to buy it online, and find a way to get it shipped to Canada.

Totally agree that the smaller stores will provide better service, but I think I'm mostly looking for the best price in this case.

Since I'll be buying this projector, and bringing it to him in Asia, I'm not sure how much customer service I'll need, especially post-sales.

And since he's already decided on the Panny, I just need to find one that's not insanely overpriced compared to online prices.

Thanks.

- Rick

Panasonic is the only company who,s raping Us canadian customer. That apply to all their electronics not only their projectors. Check the BD35 it's almost 100$ more than the S350 and it's the exact same machine (feature wise)

Sanyo, Epson, etc are pretty close to us price. The AE2000 was 1000$ more MSRP when it launched...

Oooo - tough break. I got my PT-AE2000U through a buddy with connections and paid close to the US price. As has been mentioned Panasonic apparently has no interest in being competitive here in Canada...
However, in my research, projectorpeople.com was one of the few on-linew retailers who WOULD ship to Canada. But since it comes from the States, if anything went wrong I'd have to ship it back there. Not something I was interested in, so I went elsewhere. However, that might be the thing for you! Check em out and send em an email. They were very good about responding to my questions...

Hey thanks for the tips. I think I've heard of projectorpeople.com. I also found another site, projectorpoint.com that apparently ships to Canada as stated on their website, but I haven't confirmed. They've got the 3000 for $2500, which is remarkable.

Since this purchase is for my brother, to use in Asia, I don't need any post-sales service, so price is pretty much the only factor in deciding where to buy from.

Might have to take a gamble and buy online if I see the Cdn prices are just simply too high.

Biggest bummer is the exchange rate right now. Back when I bought (earlier in the year), we were almost at parity. Nowadays you're adding like 20% to the USD price...

Good luck shopping!
