A desperate move. First the free movies, now under priced players.
I wonder what else will they sacrifice in the name of Sony hating...

I don't really think the move is all that desperate. It's their first generation players, so they're probably just trying to get rid of them and make way for the second generations. Plus, I think we all expected them to react somehow to Sony's drop in BR player price, although that's on a new player, not a year-old model like the $399 Toshiba players. Still, that, in conjunction with the Matrix Trilogy, are going to be pretty attractive to people.

I didn't think lemons cost that much.

At this point, Toshiba really has to be losing money hand over fist on HD-DVD as a whole. Even MS can only continue to throw money down this black hole for so long before THEIR stockholders finally get sick of it.

I can't imagine being the woeful person that would be a Toshiba stockholder right now.

What a waste.

As I've said elsewhere, HD-DVD people think players should cost well below cost, and if possible, be given out free of charge. Why would other manufacturers build players if there is no profit to be found. HD-DVD will last the year. not much longer.
