Default Rocky Movies

I grew up on the Rocky movies and I love them still today (I can do without part 3). I noticed that only parts 1 and 6 are out on blu. Is anyone else out there interesterd in this collection or am I still stuck in the 80's..

Funny you mention that - a few weeks ago, I did a Rocky marathon. MGM HD had a "Climb the Rockys" event where they were airing the first 5 films. I DVRed II, III, IV and V. I started with the first film on Blu-ray and followed it with Rocky II.

The next day III and IV and the day after that V followed by 'Rocky Balboa' on BD.

Rocky II and III looked no better then the 'Rocky' Blu-ray. IV was a little better and V looked pretty good. I'm sure there will be a Blu-ray collection and I will buy it. Surprisingly, the 6 films are an emotional experience when watching them back-to-back like I did. It had been years since I last saw III, IV and V. I hated Rocky V up until I watched them all, I found it to be a much better movie when put into it's proper context, rather than just some random movie featuring a tired old character.

I felt the same way about Rocky Balboa. Oh what a waste of a movie. Just a random movie featuring a tired old character.

Oddly enough I loved Rocky 5. I think the movie was shooting for the right stuff. Rocky being retired and having his final fight in the street against that guy that turned his back on him, I really liked it.

Rocky V at least tried to vary the formula. It was not as bad a film as its reputation, though I would not say that I love it.

This may be heresy, but Rocky Balboa is now my favorite film in the series. Maybe it helps that I am a bit older, but I appreciate it thematically. (It is accurately titled -- the movie is not about boxing per se, but rather it is really about the character of Rocky and how he is so trapped living in the past that he is unable to move on in his life.)

I always love the Rocky movies, I just have to struggle with number 5, just doesn't catch me so much as the others.

But I am wondering, the older ones, how would they look on BD? Going back 30 years, would it really look good on BD? I am always a bit concern with older movies transfert on BD.
