Default World Series - Philadelphia riots

so i just got threw watching some vdieos on youtube of all the philly fans rioting

I must say, i am disgusted of that city,

Destroying City Property, destroying peoples cars, and jumping up on and slowing down a fire truck that was probably trying to get some where it needed to be

in one of the videos a dudes car was being fliped, and the owner of the car came out of the restaurant he was in to see it happen. i swear if i saw that happen to my stuff, i would of shot at everyone standing around watching

How is this celbrating?

why do people think there so cool doing that?

im all for party in the streets, but respect other peoples stuff.

they claim they love there city, yet here they are tyring to destroy it

Check out some of the videos on youtube, just search Philly fans rioting

I was living just outside of Philly in ‘80 when they won the series then. I went out into the streets to whoop it up, and then some people stated to get out of control, so I left the scene. Same thing happened here when the U of M hockey team won the championship - cars turned over, stores broken into, fires…I don’t get how someone can associate willful destruction with celebration.

I don't know about this riot, but have any of you ever seen a riot at a soccer game?

People actually die at these riots.

I wonder if some DA is going to go through some of the videos with facial recognition software and make a few examples? Personally, I wish the police would have made a few examples. Nothing but thugs acting like animals, and I'm also sick of "doctors" getting on TV defending it as herd mentality.

Actual violence sucks. I'm sorry for those places in the world where this is part of the culture and a way of life.

And that’s just it, it has become the norm for so many people. It’s very disheartening, and seems to be spreading everywhere.

Don't forget S. Americans and there soccer fans. Didn't a goalie get shot for "losing" a game during the World Cup a few years ago? Compared to the world, us Americans aren't that bad.

Rioting after a game or rioting after winning a championship? I'll take the latter.

Why nothing much is ever done to halt riots when it starts?
It probably is cheaper in resources to not interfere by the city, a few cars/ businesses get
damaged & you(the insurer) pays. If police mis-handles it then more problems may arose
like tarnished images.

Mob mentality is the norm nowadays, it's here to stay. Either stay home or join the chaos...
er... I meant party.

I'm 3HD-RED60 & I approve this post.

You can't be serious? You're going to summarize the actions of a few idiots to define an entire city? Do you really believe this is the only city in the history of sports championships has ever turned over cars, rioted, etc.??? Here's a taste of what the lovely city of Boston is capable of (and for the record, I think Boston is a great city):

http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news...67/detail.html
http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/4132119/
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/10/22/fan.death/

Do some research, you'll find plenty more stories like this.

When David Beckham lived in the UK and he caused them to loose the championship (or some game)... he got A LOT of death threats. People were even wishing harm on his wife and kids.

It was Columbian defender Escobar. Here scored an own-goal and effectively knocked his team out of the competition. The theory is it cost a drug lord a lot of money and this was his punishment.

I'm from England and very passionate about my football, but life's too short to be beating up/rioting/killing folks about something that is, after all, a mode of entertainment.

I recall seeing an interview on TV with a hooligan when the violence was at it's peak and the general gist of his argument was that the nature of sporting event was largely irrelevant and really just provided a convenient venue for the violence.

the riots in Philly were in such a small part of the city....

most of the city behaved....

and this is nothing compared to what Chicago, LA, NY and a few other cities have done...

I mean you're really narrowing down about 10% or less of the city that had these riots....but of course you couldn't tell that from a youtube video
