I'm just glad Phil Hellmuth can't brag about being youngest anymore. ESPN coverage is supposed to start this weekend I think.

I find Matasow entertaining, I find Phil distracting. He outright insults people at the table.

IMO there was a lot of poor play at the final table. montgemry is an awful player.

I second that. The winner played well I thought. It doesn't hurt when you are catching straights, flushes, and sets on the river either.

With texas hold em it all depends on the luck of the draw imo, i would take luck in poker any day over having skill.

But there are some fundamental skills you should have. You should be able to calculate pot odds and to know how many outs you have and your chances of drawing those outs.

For instance if I'm in the big blind with 2-4 off suit and someone doubles the big blind and everyone at a full table calls, I call regardless of the two hole cards I have because I'm getting a great return on investment.

Skill helps ALOT and even though someone new wins the WSOP Main Event every year, only the truly great players make the final table at the HORSE tourney.

Sure you can suck out calling a big raise and hitting a set or makign a hard straight but you shouldn't be trying to do that. I fold 90% of my hands. 1 big hand an hour is the standard.
