Default which casino royale should i buy?

i was planning on buying this movie and since there is a 2 disc edition that came out, i was wondering if the TrueHD track is better than the Uncompressed version...which version is best?

I personally prefer the pcm cause it's pcm....but it is only 16bits....most
will probably tell you to get the new one cause it is dolbytruehd at 24bits..

but if you can get the first one for alot cheaper than i'd go there.

I own both Picture quality is the same and the trueHD track sounds as good as the PCM but me personally I prefer PCM sound. If you want the extra bonus features I pick up the new one if not try to find the older version cheaper like Sith said.

Most retail stores sell them both for the same price, so I'd go with the Collector's edition. I traded in my regular version and bought the Collector's Edition and got the Movie Cash towards Quantum of Solace! Win-Win!

I am REALLY tempted to buy Casino Royale, the new version just because of the TrueHD Audio and the movie is amazing...so I would go with the newer one.

The audio, bonus content and cover art are better in the new version. Depending on how much you care about those things, you can make your decision.

The switcheroo doesn't result in any appreciable drop-off in quality, though after a series of very anal comparisons, I can say I would probably give the slightest of edges to the PCM -- but only the slightest.
not according to High-def digest.

I found the slight edge going to the TrueHD version and at some points the improvement was significant, such as the more bombastic scenes and the Chris Cornell song.

Do the reviewers at HD Digest even publish the system they're using?

i didnt see you were a reviewer, no discredit to your opinion sir just going off their review, which is usually pretty accurate. After a little searching the main reviewer's equipment stats were as follows (this is dated back a ways so idk whats changed since the time it was posted) he also wrote the Casino Royale review

well, they're almost the exact same price...new version has identical PQ, comparable if not slightly better AQ, way better Bonus Features, better cover art, and you get a free ticket to QoS....

where's the argument here?

The TrueHD on the new version is amazing. I'm not really an audiophile, but I was very impressed by it. It's one of the best soundtracks I've heard on a BD disc and you won't be disappointed. The disc also has far more bonus content, so I can't see that there's even much to debate here. Even if there are any minuscule differences between the PCM/TrueHD tracks, I have to wonder how many people have the equipment/ears to detect it (beyond the volume differences).

I agree, especially on the TRUEHD. I finally purchased it yesterday and I must say i'm very pleased with the package. I find the TRUEHD an improvement over the PCM because I hear more inner detail than I heard on the PCM. If there's anything i'd give the PCM advantage over is sounding "smoother" which is something I notice with PCM tracks.

The sound quality would be almost enough but i'm really loving the featurettes. I got the chance to watch BOND IN THE BAHAMAS, THE ROAD TO CASINO ROYALE and a bit of the Ian Fleming featurette and I find them all interesting. I didn't play with the PIP yet.

Thus far, very pleased!!
