Default Anyone watch Ghost Hunters?

Yeah, they’re a couple of plumbers by trade, but some of the stuff they come up with is down right freaky! The Lighthouse episode is one of the creepiest. It’s one thing to “hear things that go bump in the night”, it’s another thing entirely to capture images on video & FLIR that are clearly human in shape, and record voices calling for help.

They did a live broadcast this past Halloween in Fort Delaware. 7 Hours is a bit much to sit through, but the follow up special that aired last night had the two main investigators in the basement of the fort. Grant stops, asks “did you hear that” and right away you can clearly hear a mans voice saying “you don’t belong here”. He said it sounded like the voice came from right next to him.

My 12 year old daughter is really into the show too. Anyone else watch?

The results show on Wed was pretty good. That voice was seriously creepy and it was awesome when you see Grants collar on his coat getting pulled a few times. Also, I like the humor between Tango and Steve.

The show has me interested, but I haven't really checked it out yet. How legitimate is it in presentation? Regardless of whether or not you believe in this stuff, does the show present things honestly, or is it obviously fixed? What's the consensus on that? I'm always leary of TV show presentations when it comes to stuff like this.

I think they are pretty honest. Rarely does anything ever happen on the show. It can be very boring. There are a couple times though I wondered if they weren't making things up to hold intrest in the show, for example the voice on the tape from this years Halloween episode. It sounded way too clear and nothing like the other EVPs they would get. As for the EVPs most of the time I think they are just hearing what they want to hear and it could just be a glitch in the recording. I keep thinking the show is boring, but I tune in every week, I don't know why...

I think they try very hard to “de-bunk” and don’t make things up. Some of the voices they have recorded not only on tape/digital recorders, but while they are actually happening, and the sound guy with just regular recording equipment has picked up the voice. Yes, sometimes the recording is scratchy, but even then, you can pick out a voice over the background noise.

That says nothing about the images though, and some of those are definite.

I think the show is great! I watch both GH and GHI. I also saw that they are going to have a new show were college students do the investigation, although I'm not sure if I want to watch college students squeal at everything that happens.

The live show was fantastic this year, although the "You don't belong here" voice was so clear and audible, I almost thought it was just the camera man speaking.

I mainly like the show because they try to find different solutions to hauntings rather than assume that the place is haunted. It makes the evidence that they capture seem a lot more authentic.

I just got started watching the first season, while rather creepy at times, there are times when I just wish they would shut up about; he's being a jerk, he can't find the mic, the tapes aren't labeled. I hope they drop all that eventually.

They do. In season two they shift the focus to the investigations rather than the "reality tv" type crap they filmed in the first season.

Season three has all of the fat trimmed out and is strictly to the point. Me likey!

They are diehard skeptics. They go into a case with the mindset of trying to disprove a haunting. If they are left with hard core evidence that they can't explain or debunk, you may have some sort of haunting there.
I've had the pleasure of "tagging along" on several investigations with Jason & Grant. And let me tell you...these guys are pros! They made sure everything is turned off or unplugged. They want no false EMF readings. Their security team is awesome. They had the Stanley Hotel in locked down mode. No one got in and no one got out during the investigations unless J & G knew about it and knew where they were going.

I'll even take it a step further.

The Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum on Hollywood Blvd asked TAPS to come do an investigation 2 years ago. The management thought that there may be some sort of Paranormal activity there. They had the nerve to tell Jason that if they didn't find any evidence of the Paranormal, the Museum would cut them a check for $10,000 to still say that the place was haunted. Jason told me that he basically gave the guy the finger. They have my respect!

Good, all that is the best part of the show.

A few things though that I'm curious about:
1) How is it that they catch all these 'phenomenon' on there gadgets, but I have never seen anything from the actual show camera?

2) Same thing with the voice recordings, why do their little tape recorders pick up extra voices, but, nothing shows up on the show's audio?

Yes, on the famous “lighthouse” episode & this past Halloween special. They have a camera crew follow them around, with a “sound guy” in tow. He uses a professional mic & boom setup. He has captured voices on several occasions.

1) Good question. Ghosts, as you know, don't come out on command. So you'll have a better chance of catching something on a stationary camera that's been shooting for 5+ hours than a "show" camera. I always wanted them to have a camera strapped to their fore-heads so when they say, "did you see that?" we would see it also.

2) Most EVP's they get, you will not hear at the time. You only hear on the recording. Once in a while (the recent Halloween special) you can hear it with your own ears. They are rare but when they happen, let me tell you, they are the creepiest one's! It happend to me once and I will never forget it.

I think the worst episode so far has to be the Moss Beach Distillery. The jackass they sopke to before the investigation conviently forgot to tell Jason and Grant about the 'tricks' the owner had set up. They had a motion activated chandelier, faces in the mirrors, etc. He actually had the nerve to sit there with a smirk on his face when they told him what they had found. Blu Ron, that is why I respect them as a group for Jason to give the owner of the Ripley's museum the finger for offering them a bribe. They have honesty and integrity in their investigations, they do it for free out of their own time to help these people, and most importantly are there to disprove a haunting.

Totally agree with you, good Sir! The Queen Mary is another "frustrating" episode (Tampered evidence). TAPS was nice enough to finish the investigation. I would have gotten outta there right away. So many establishments want to be labeled "haunted" to boost tourism. That's why I prefer domestic cases.
