I dunno, I feel like they are basically post under a different tab, try to not make it as explicit sounding and the proceeds will go to children!

Now they will just go back to the streets. It will be more public now. Just legalize the damn thing.

I agree, it's just another service that can be regulated and taxed.

it should be a state/local thing if it is legalized, not a federal thing. i believe its already legal in some areas of nevada.

It's legal in Nevada based on population of the town/city. If it's below a certain number it's legal.

Taxing prositution and drugs would eliminate the national deficit and bring in untold amounts of foreign money.

Im for taxing pot, other drugs should still be illegal, they are just too harmful. It would balance our budget over night practically.

and yeah, base it on a town by town basis and i think that town should have the final say if its legal by a simple vote of popular majority. if a town says its legal, then the federal govt. has the right to come in and tax it like any other good or service, i just don't think its right for the federal govt. to say its legal everywhere. as long as they don't say anything on the situation, the matter is up to smaller forms of govt.

I'm still hopeful that California will be the first state to make tobacco illegal and pot legal. Then we will get rid of the states deficit.

Part of the issue with legalizing (and therefore taxing) prostitution is that it creates a "record" of employment for that person. But, if you're willing to do it, you've got to be willing to face everything that comes with it, I suppose.

you know one thing i love about this country.

if you get paid to have sex, its illegal

however,

if you get paid to have sex AND videotape it, it then becomes legal.

What's the point if they ban tobacco? To make another illegal substance?

Because tobacco is worse and more addictive than marijuana. I was on cigs for 14 years until I quit and it's extremely addicitve. Marijuana is nto addictive.

i wouldn't say marijuana is not addictive. almost anything can be addictive including marijuana. plus alcohol is very addictive as well. and by using your argument we should ban alcohol as well.

I think alcohol is more destructive than marijuana and should be illegal.

It will never happen It's federal law that makes pot illegal and only the federal goverment can make it legal

Wouldn't the loss of the tax income for tobacco cancel out any gain for legalizing/taxing marijuana? Seems like in a best case scenario you'd be no better off than you are now.

I've known people who smoke tobacco and marijuana.... Both are addictive. Maybe not in the same sense (physical dependence), but the "need" for one is just as strong, mentally, as the other.

You can argue that indefinitely. I've heard from more than one person that they've lost jobs, loved ones etc because of their addiction to Pot. Never heard the same story from tobacco smokers.

Anyway, my point was that banning those things in general produces black market/illegal activities. And back in the day ban on alcohol didn't produce much positive outcome, sure made Capone and lots of other gangsters very rich, but that's pretty much it.
