Monoprice-Wall Mounts

Anybody here have experience with Monoprice wall mounts for their displays? I am in the market for a wall mount and their prices are unbeatable. I just wanted to know if they are good quality or not.

I used a Costco wall-mount, $100 and the thing is sturdy as heck. It can be angled up or down, and holds up to a 60". But as far as monoprice goes...heck, we swear by their HDMI and speaker wire, one can only assume their mounts are made to the same degree of quality!

Yes they are good. I've bought and installed 6 monoprice mounts, never had any problems. I use the non tilting low profile model that cost about $18.00. The lag bolts they include are good enough, but you might feel safer getting some similar sized ones from Lowes or Home Depot. My Sony KDL-52XBR5 in my living room & my Vizio VO47L in the bedroom both are using the this one:

I've read in the avs forum that several people have used them. Some people with 100ish pound plasmas say that the full motion mounts sag a bit, but that the flush-mounts and tilting models are rock solid. A lot of people report breaking the included lag bolts during installation. Probably wouldn't hurt to spend a couple extra bucks at Home Depot for some better bolts. I have a tilting mount on order for my plasma and that's what I'm gonna do. I'll post back after I get it mounted.

i had one from monoprice when i had my sammy lcd. i was very happy with it, very sturdy, never ever felt that it would break or fall off the wall. always been very impressed with products from monoprice

Ok, thanks for the replies. I guess I will give them a shot. I will also grab some sturdier lag bolts when the time comes to mount the thing.

20$ for a 37-63 inch wall mount, when the big box stores are selling those at around $100-$150 a pop!? Count me in!

I got my monoprice mount in today and mounted my TV this evening. I got a tilting model and mounted a 50" Samsung plasma to it. The TV weighs 107 lbs. Piece of cake and solid as a rock. It took a grand total of about 30 minutes, and that's with running my cables in the wall. I had to ask my neighbor to help me lift the TV onto the wall bracket, but that's all the help I needed. Just make sure you get the wall bracket level and you shouldn't have any trouble.

You make it sound like it's just a breeze! How did you run the wires in the wall? Can you post some pics?

I thought it was a breeze. I didn't take any pics as I went, and I'm not at home right now to take any, but I'll try to talk you through it. First I used a stud finder to mark 2 studs where I wanted the TV to hang. Then I measured and determined how high I wanted the TV to be. The hardest part to me was to get the wall plate level. That was because it was a little tricky to hold it up against the wall with the level on top and mark the locations for the screw holes all at the same time. I drilled good, deep pilot holes and screwed the lag bolts in with a ratchet to mount the back plate on the wall.

In that plate are two 2" round holes. I used a 1 3/4" holesaw and cut the sheetrock out from behind one after I had the plate on the wall. Then I dropped down below that about 3 or so feet-the same height as all the other electrical outlets, cable jacks and phone jacks on the walls-and cut a hole and mounted this in the hole.

Then I used a 10' power cable and a 10' HDMI cable and dropped them in the top hole and fished them out the bottom hole. I fed them through this (link below) and then screwed it to the bracket in the above link. It screws on like a light switch cover plate.

For my TV all I had to do was take 4 screws out of the back. I used 4 screws, spacers and washers that came with the mount and attached the mounting brackets to the back of the TV. I took the screws out of the TV's pedestal and my neighbor helped me lift the TV off the pedestal. While we held the TV I attached the power cord and HDMI cable and then while I pushed the cable slack into the top hole we carefully hung the TV onto the wall plate.

You've got several inches of play with this mount so you can slide the TV from side to side to get it centered where you want it. After I had it centered, I screwed the safety catches into place. Then I plugged it back in and fired it up.

I know this is a bit wordy. I hope you're able to follow it OK. If you look at the mount I used on monoprice.com you'll see the 2 round holes I'm talking about.

I'm not mechanically inclined, but this really is a pretty simple task. Just use a good stud finder and make sure you get the back plate level on the wall.

I don't want to nag, but with a name like fireman I have to. Just make sure that power and hdmi cables are up to code for being in-wall. I'd hate to see something happen and your insurance claim is denied because of it.

That sounded really doom n' gloom, and I'm not trying to be, but just be careful.
