Default Sub RCA plug broke off in my Onkyo 605 and is stuck? Help!

I moved and installed my surround setup, but the shelf gave on the entertainment stand when I was pushing it in and the RCA plug going into the sub input on the 605 snapped off and got stuck in the input plug. I tried to use a potato to get it out, but all that did was push it in further.

Does anyone know how I can get this thing out? Otherwise I will not be able to use my sub and I really don't want to spend another $300-$400 on a receiver because of something as small as this.

It's an easy thing... take off the cover and you will probably see the pin
sticking thru the jack... remove it, and make sure you have the power off should you drop the pin.

I can't figure out how a potato would help...

Anyway I hope you get it out. If you can't get it out the from the inside like gearyt suggested (or if you're not comfortable removing the cover), I would suggest taking it to a service center (I would think that most electronic repairman would be able to pull it out or to change the input for a fair price).

Good luck!

I got it out, but I think I caused more damage to it. I had to poke it all the way through and I think I dislodged an important piece behind it that conducts the signal (or whatever). I get no bass when I play something through it.

I used the potato because it has worked when I have a light bulb break and is stuck. Same concept.

When this happened to my lfe in on my sub I took the cotton off the tip of a q tip lightly brushed crazy glue on the end of the tip. Then push the end of the q-tip up against the pin, let it stick for 10 min. then pulled out, it took a few times but worked. I know it sounds crazy but I was in the same position I was not going to spend over a hundred or more to have a professional do it or buy a new sub.

I wish I thought of that before I took off the case. Whatever I did, I must have pushed the pin through something else and broke something on the back end of the sub output. I ran the Audessy setup and it reads every single speaker except the sub. I have done it different times, each time changing the red and white out on both ends.

What is the best/cheapest receiver options for myself? I have the PS3.

You might want to take it to BB or CC or another retailer that fixes electronics it might take a few weeks and cost a little bit but less than a new unit I would hope.
