Input on my initial setup

Hi all

What a great forum! I'm thrilled to have found it.

I'm sure this question has been asked a million times, but I would like to confirm that my setup is optimal, and ask for suggestions as to what else I should do for best use of the BD (which I'm very impressed with btw).

So, here's the system:

TV - Sony Wega KF-50WE610 50" LCD Rear Projection
Amp - Sony DTC 1000ES
Speakers - F, C, R, NHT. LS, RS, Mirage (in ceiling). Sub - Mirage Prestige S10
Blu-ray - Panasonic BD-30

Connections:

Video - HDMI direct connect to TV
Audio - Multi channel out from BD to Amp (amp set to multi-in, obv)

Basic settings:

Video (Picture): Normal
Audio (SFX): Off
(Vsurround): Off
(dial enh): Off
Digital Audio Output & PCM Downconversion...not sure here...help please?
TV/Device connection : HDMI Video Mode ON
HDMI Resolution AUTO

My next planned purchase is a 60" Plasma, which I'll be looking for feedback on in the appropriate sub-forum here. Hopefully I've provided enough information for some feedback on the set-up, and possible improvements through tweaks in the settings.

the only comment I will make is on the BD player. If you plan on using Multichannel Analog, you might think about getting a player that will decode the formats and pass over the analog connection...such as the Sony S550 or the Panny BD55.

Other than that, I like your setup.


oh, and for plasma...Pioneer.

LOL, I've actually looked at a couple, and top of the shortlist at the moment is the Panasonic TH-65PZ850. Not thrilled at the price (7.5k here in Canada) but might be worth the wait
