Why black friday?

Why retailers use the black friday to give good deals on few items,don't u think they should do this every day.

Traditionally, it is the biggest shopping day of the year. Stores try to out-do each other with sales items and opening times to get shoppers to come to their store.

Also, it gives them an idea of where they are at business wise, like if they are meeting their sales and what not.

They would go out of business offering those sort of sales everyday. Most of the Black Friday Doorbuster prices are below cost.

Would be nice if they had sales like that every day though.

It takes them until this date to be in the black. The rest of the year they do big sales to make as many transactions as possible.

Because after Thanksgiving basically starts the Christmas shopping. So they get you to start early with Black Friday and then the weekend sales.

Most of these sales are below cost. Toshiba tried that with HD DVD and well, we saw how well that worked out.

because in business, black is a positive thing, better to have a 'black' friday than a 'red' friday

I went to walmart at 4:30, Target at 6am, the mall at 7:30 and frys at 9am. It was not too bad. Got most of the shopping done and saved a ton of money.

I did not know that I could get the doorbuster items online(someone said you could but had to be awake at 3am or something, is that true?)

Anyway, it was NOT just women going crazy like alot have said on the forums. When I can take care of all my kids shopping in 1 day and save alot of money, I mean ALOT, I think ANYONE will do it. My budget is less than half of that in years pass but I do not want my kids to have less. I went thru that when I was young and it kinda puts a damper on Christmas. getting up early to make sure my kids have a great Christmas to remember is very minor to me.
