Good blu-ray laptop?

Hello all, I'm interested in buying this laptop. Thing is, I don't know much about computers, and even less about laptops. Is this a good computer in your opinion?

It's selling for about 1400-1500$ canadian (about 1000-1100 US$) and I would have it for about 800$ canadian (500US$). Money is not an issue. What I mean is, is this a good computer period, not is it a good computer for 800$. I hope this makes sense.

Also, I know laptops tend to have a crapload of software installed on it, I'm guessing for things like the battery and stuff like that. Can I do a format and start fresh (and remove vista and put xp instead), or should I not tamper with it too much.

I'm looking at this pc for blu-ray on the go, i already have a ps3 and hdtv for home viewing.
