Blu-ray Archduke

I never saw it but I've heard about it for years. It's coming out on Blu this Tuesday and just thought I'd get some feedback. It looks like it's coming in a special packaging. I really don't need all of the goodies but I guess it's good for the fans. I'm guessing it's the only way to obtain a copy on blu-ray? They'll probably release the movie itself a little down the road.
I'm also wondering if it's a dvd-size case. It looks like it's the same "Dirty Harry Collection style" I'd rather it be blu-ray size but we can't always win I guess. Here's a few pics for your viewing pleasure. 1st pic is indeed the dvd edition but the same stuff comes with the BD edition as well. ![]() ![]() |

I guess it depends on your movie tastes. Do you enjoy classic films?
Personally, I love Casablanca. I've been a fan since I first discovered it on VHS. It's got some of the greatest snappy dialogue of any movie ever. And it actually gets better on subsequent viewings. Blind buy? You might want to rent it first and if it sticks with you buy it later. I'm hoping to get this for Christmas. ![]() |

casablanca is a real classic of the american cinema not only for the picture but the dialogue as well... you must remember this a kiss is just a kiss... louis this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship...he's looking at you kid... you can't have a better movie than this one and if you're a fan of bogart look for the movie...to have and have not... the maltese falcon...key largo...dark passage and the big sleep to names just a few you wont regret it all classic on dvd

I don't WANT the set... just the movie. I've never seen it, but like older movies (12 angry men, citizen kane, to kill a mockingbird, it's a wonderful life, A christmas carol, in the heat of the night). Also looking forward to gone with the wind someday... never seen that either.

One of the best films ever. But... wait for a less pricey option. Shouldn't have to be paying over 20 bucks, much less twice that. (Kinda holding the blu-ray folks hostage; sticking with my red copy.)
[Edit: Pretty irritating how Warner just loves to milk these things over and over and over... Hope it's their biggest flop.] Last edited by fdm; 11-29-2008 at 03:36 AM. |

I find it odd that this is being touted as one of the best films ever and yet not worth the price.
To me, the best movie I have ever seen is Walt Disney's Pinocchio, it was only a few months ago and right then I knew it kicked everything else I had ever seen in the water. I'd happily pay thousands for the Blu-ray Disc if movie prices were based on their prestige. In fact, to make myself feel like less of a thief for the ridiculously low price it will have, I had to buy expensive Pinocchio merchandise. ![]() Anyway, hoping I haven't changed the subject too much. |
