Default how many movies out there really deserve to be on Blu-ray?

hi all,

I was looking to members collections and i found alot of people with more than 500 blu-ray movies, that made me wonder are there really that amount of titles that deserve to be on blu-ray or at least will benefit from HD over upconversion?.

my Blu-ray collection is mainly action , adventure and some documentaries movies (around 32 titles), i don't buy for example blu-ray comedies.

i do think that there are currently around 100-150 titles out there that really benefit or deserver to be on blu-ray others are there just as a fromat option.

i am just looking to hear people feedback on this, i am not trying to bash or question anybody judgement with their movies collection.

It depend on your taste. You sound like me in a little way, you like buying BD that you will keep on watching and watching. Many members on this site are HUGE movie fans and love all types, thus they have quite a collection of BD. Some of the older movies have had some amazing transfert to BD, for some who love's them, it's quite something to see them on BD.

Since it's only a matter of personal preference, each and every movie deserves to be on Blu-ray...

Example: Tons on people claim animation upconverted is just as good as Blu. And yes, it looks nice. However watching animation on Blu is a mind-blowing beautiful experience (at least imo). So: every movie should be on Blu.

I guess you're right, but some movies could just be a waste on BD. Like, I'm really not waiting for the BD version of 'The Hottie and the Nottie' (Not that I've ever seen it, bet I sure bet it sucks)
BTW +1 for the animation on BD! Just look at Kung Fu Panda!

Indeed. I never felt the need to buy each and every DVD ever released...

The goal is to get an as large selection as possible for every taste out there.

I think everything deserves to be on Blu-ray. As long as the source isn't in standard definition. Which the vast majority of content isn't.

if a movie has the possibility of looking and sounding better on bluray, there is no reason it shouldn't receive blu treatment. some people are huge comedy fans, and they'll benefit from bluray just as much as people who enjoy action movies.

IMO, every movie deserves to be on Blu-Ray. At the very least one person who buy it is the director. So, there are gazillions movies deserving to be out on BD

Every movie ever made should be available in Blu. The people with over 500 blu-ray movies are serious film collector. Believe me, there are tons of movies that I want to get for my collection.

I agree all movies should be available on BD but its amazing how many studio's have focused on low budget or small money making films instead of the bigger block busters......new and old. I sure hope they start releasing ALL new films in BD's....it just makes more sense.

All of them.

You think that your (and I mean anyone who reads this) is the only opinion that matters? No. What you HATE with fury someone else LOVES with a passion. So all these threads are really pointless. They ALL deserve it. Thinking otherwise is plain selfishness, honestly. You DON'T have to buy it if you don't like it. Or even look at it. Or even talk about it. Can you imagine the uproar if some guy came in and started spewing about how he hated the Dark Knight?

Well I'm more in the 10 club, lol. I don't own too many blu rays, anyways I think any movie should be on blu ray, I never heard "this movie doesn't belong on DVD, its just as good as the VHS" as an excuse to not release a movie on DVD. Blu Ray should be the same, every movie even if the benefit is minimal, I mean at the least they could add more special features.
