Default Need help chosing 1 of 3 tv's! Panasonic 800 plasma, Sony 46Z, or Samsung 46 750

Could someone give me a hand deciding between these 3 TV's:

1. Panasonic TH-46PZ800U
2. Sony KDL-46Z4100
3. Samsung LN46A750

I have been looking at the panasonic for some time but am now contemplating one of the above mentioned LCD's. I have heard good things about the panasonic and Samsung and OK things about the Sony. I don't know if I could handle the red border of the samsung....

Any input would be helpful,

Thanks,

Moragg

They are all good TVs, the 800u is one of the best this year though. That would be my choice...

Depends on your use. What will you be using this tv for? Alot of gaming, TV, or movies? Will it be in a sunlight room?

LCD's are brighter than plasmas, and have more "pop" which will perform better in rooms with windows or brightly lite rooms.

LCD's also do not have burn in or IR issues, which plasmas do still have.. although the 800 is a better plasma.. there are still IR issues, if you are a heavy gamer that may be an issue.

However if you are not a heavy gamer, and sunlight is not going to be on your TV the plasma has some better options in that it has better blacks and no motion blur issues.

That Sony is a real nice one.. saw one properly hooked up to a BR player at a local Hi-Fi store. Extremely nice..

Samsung 750 has about the same if not more glare then 800u.
Samsung 750 is a really good tv but I would go with the 800u
and I play Call Of Duty and Gears Of War on my TV 4-6 hours a day with no IR

please lets not make this what is better LCD or Plasma thread

oh one thing LCD can get burn in

Okay, I have seen the picture of the LCD burn in.

I work for a company where we automatically lock the user's Windows session if it has been idle for 5 minutes. Every single CRT has burn, none of the LCDs do. Keep in mind we have users out of the office for weeks at a time.....

Yo, posters asked for opinions on three different tv with both technologies so there is going to be some tech vs tech talk.

I am not talking about glare either, but that is another good point, I am talking about brightness of the set, plasmas in general and panasonics are representitive of that as well, do not get as bright as LCD's..

oh and I am not a plasma hater, I am exciting about getting my 58" 800u this Friday! but you have not know there are options where LCD's may be a better choice... and that is what this poster is looking for.. I am also a heavy gamer.. but plan to break in plasma before use..

I am not saying it is common, but it does exist

I have seen 2 Toshiba LCD with burn in at Circuit CIty

Also I am not saying go buy plasma 100% of the time.I agree the Samsung 650 750 and 860 are all amazing TV's

Thanks for the input!! I am not a gamer at the current time but I am still worried about the burn in. Does anyone watch their plasma with the gray bars? That sounds distracting....
I will be watching the TV in a fairly well lit room but without sunlight against the TV so I think I can go both ways. It seems like most people feel that the panasonic 800 is the way to go, providing light is not an issue. Anyone out there feel different? It sounds like the Samsung has some interesting options but maybe they are just gimicky.

Cheers,

Moragg

Really it is up to you and only you can decide what you want. Samsung LCD's are great, they rival some of the plasma's on the market. So does Sony's, although overall, plasmas are still going to give you a slightly better picture at the end of the day. Personally, I would never own a plasma, I prefer LCDs and when you adjust the setting properly have an amazing picture.

MY experience was that I kept going to the same place and looking at the same 3 brands of TV's you are, I was torn, but ultimately I kept finding myself in front of the Samsung, and I knew that it was the TV for me. I suggest you do the same. All 3 will be excellent choices. Good luck.

If you are not a gamer, quite frankly I would not worry about burn in with that model Panasonic... just be careful what you watch within the first 100 hours, that you do not watch movies with black bars, or fall asleep on a channel with static images (like bottom scroller on CNN).. after the first 100 or 150 hours.. you will be fine...

no direct sunlight should reduce glare issues as well.. now you are down to personal preference.. I would suggest the same as previous user... watch each set a couple times.. go through menus see what you like and dont like..

800u and you will only get IR burn in is a thing of the past unless you are very very neglectful of your TV.

Default Panasonic.... cuz it's the best rated TV.

I would do the panasonic because it's the best rated TV.

I would do the panasonic because it's the best. Not to mention... it's also the best TV. Also... one more thing, it is the best TV ;-)

Panasonic rivals the best for color accuracy, and fastest display since it's not LCD. I have the PZ750... and I am delighted with it. Nice he-man controller too.

I got the sammy lcd back in may and I love it. At first, the touch of color was a drawback for me but I like it now. I barely notice it now. The picture is great. I find the 120 hz feature pretty cool but others may not. Its all about personal preference. But as other posters have said, look at the models in store and see which one you like. It may take awhile but once you make your decision you will be happy.

I would go with the Panny 800. I have 2 Panny 700s (58" and 42") and they're great.
