I had a single burnt out sub-pixel and they exchanged it. Panasonic usually has a fantastic reputation for customer support. But every electronics company can't keep every consumer happy every time

If you're planning on merely opening the box, turning it on and watching a blu-ray, go with Panasonic.
On the other hand, if you're interested in getting your plasma ISF calibrated, no question - go with the Samsung. It's a calibrator's dream machine. If you're asking me which is better: a Panasonic out of the box or an ISF calibrated Samsung, go with the Samsung. Happy Holidays and happier viewing! ![]() |

What about last year's Pioneer models (5020 or 6020). I think you can get the 5020 (50" model) for roughly $2400. That should be in the same price range as the two you listed.
Last week I could not hold back anymore and purchased the Pioneer 111-FD. What an amazing TV. Would not trade it for the world (well maybe for some things......) |

I had a projection LCD TV. The bulb burned out after 13 months and less then 200 hours use. $300
Less then a year later the ballast went. $600+ And I read online that the bulb burn out every year. So won't buy a Panasonic anything ever again. Don't care how "good" they are. Same happened to me on my Chevy car. They knew there was an issue and ignored it and screwed the buyers. So they don't get my business again. |

I guess you won't ever buy a Pioneer or Hitachi plasma either because Panasonic will be making their PDP's for them |

Maybe Pioneer will stick behind their product. The TV was used in a room that had not cable, not antenna just a DVD player so was only used to watch movies with the surround sound system. We only watched movies on weekends, maybe 3 a week at most. So the product was barely used. The ballast went after it became our primary TV after we moved. I judge a company based upon how they handle issues. When they know there is an issue and don't stand behind their product, they lose my business. Should I buy a GM car after Chevy mailed all car owners with a specific engine and said there is a issue with the head gasket. If it breaks under 75000 they would fix it for free. Mine broke at 76500 and they told me to bad. Guess what company I won't ever buy a car from? If they took a loss for one customer they would have had me for life. Look at EVGA and the infamous Monster. They stick behind their product...so they get my business. |
