Default Using PS3 as player, what reciever should i get?

The PS3 has TrueHD and DTS-HD decoding on-board, so i don't need to buy a reciever that has TrueHD or DTS-HD right? I just need one that has Optical or HDMI switching correct?

If so please link me to the CHEAPEST one that can do HD audio.

This is the cheapest new receiver you will find that will accept the HD audio being decoded by the PS3. There are other options if you are up for refurb.

I got this, great product, cheap, great reviews.
I believe people were somehow buying this on ebay for $230 with cashback, but don't quote me on that.

The CHEAPEST one would be the Sony STR-DG720, but I would recommend that you look into the Onkyo 606 or a Sony STR-DG920. Both can be had between $300-$400 and are much better recievers.

You cannot use optical for HD audio. So it has to have an HDMI input.

Either way you still need to use HDMI to get the HD audio codecs. But you should know that a 5.1 is all you'll need as the PS3 can't decode 7.1 DTS anyway.

WHAT!!!

I thought PS3 can handle decode DTS HD and DTS MA to receiver HD has 7.1 DTS??

I know that's only HDMI 1.3 is DD HD and DTS HD.

because upgrade firmware 2.41 on PS3 has decode DTS HD.
